Wrestlemania 31 Thoughts

I've never posted about wrestling before on my blog, but I'm a huge fan of the WWE, and have been since the summer of 2010. With Wrestlemania being held in the Bay Area, where I live, I couldn't miss the opportunity to share my thoughts. I'm going to go through each and every match, and how I felt watching it. Let's get started. 1st match: Tag Titles Fatal 4-Way     Winners: Tyson Kidd and Cesaro I was a little disappointed that this wasn't a 4 way dance with eliminations, but I liked quite a bit of what I saw. I felt it was a slight that the Usos were immediately taken out of the equation, what with them being the 2014 Slammy winners for Tag Team of the Year, but oh well. This match set the stage quite nicely for the rest of the card, and the competitors seemed to be enjoying themselves. Kidd and Cesaro are great tag champs, and they prove it every time they step foot in the ring.  2nd match: Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal     Winner: The Big Sh

NHL 15: Philly Flyers Offseason(Year 1)

Now it is time for my favorite part of Be A GM modes: the offseason. In this part, we will go through the amateur draft, re-sign players, bid for new ones and set up the team for season 2. Enjoy! First off, our AHL team did make the playoffs, but lost in the first round in 7 games to the Ice Caps. Next, the NHL took to the ice for the playoffs, which saw the Detroit Red Wings lift another Stanley Cup, beating Ryan Getzlaf and the Anaheim Ducks in an epic 7 game series. Here is a list of the awards for the season: Stanley Cup: Detroit Red Wings Presidents' Trophy: Chicago Blackhawks Maurice Richard: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburg Penguins Art Ross: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburg Penguins Ted Lindsay: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburg Penguins Frank J. Selke: Jonathan Toews, Chicago Blackhawks Bill Masterton: Zach Bogosian, Winnipeg Jets William M. Jennings: Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers Vezina: Henrik Lundqvist, New York Rangers Conn Smythe: Pavel Datsyuk, Detroit Red Wings Calder: Mi

NHL 15: Philly Flyers Regular Season Part 2(Year 1)

We finish up season 1 in this post, enjoy! With just a couple months left in the year, we just needed to get the games over and done with and end season 1. A couple weeks after the deadline, we picked up Dana Tyrell off of waivers. He's a pretty good depth player, and ended up taking over the 4th line, moving Ryan White up to the 3rd and Scott Laughton back down to the minors. We finished the season just under .500 in terms of regulation wins and losses, with a record of 35-36-11, good for 81 points. All in all, not a terrible season given how many players we traded away. We scored 202 goals, and allowed 206. We finished ranked 13th in the overall power rankings, which seems a little high. We finished seventh in our division, 11 points out of a playoff spot. Here are the team leaders: Goals: Brayden Schenn, 33 Assists: Claude Giroux, 41 Plus-Minus: Wayne Simmons, +20 PIMS: Zac Rinaldo, 151 minutes Wins: Steve Mason, 31 Again, not the worst year. It could have been bette

NHL 15: Philly Flyers Trade Deadline(Year 1)

I'm really enjoying making these at the moment, so expect to see tons of them. So, our main goal at the trade deadline was to shift on older players and players that didn't play a role in our current team. The main guys I was looking to shift on were Matt Read(2nd line Left Wing) and Kimmo Timonen(2nd pairing on Defense). What I was looking for in exchange would be prospects or picks, and possibly a true left wing sniper for the second line. We traded with our rivals, the New York Rangers, which is unrealistic but I don't care, for left wing prospect Anthony Duclair. Duclair is only 20, with good potential and is already 78 overall, so he'll be ready to play next year. We gave up Matt Read, defenseman Nick Schultz and the third round pick we got from Anaheim in the Vatanen trade. With two spots to fill, we called up Scott Laughton, a youngster who had already gotten some ice time in injury relief, to play the third line and moved Ray Whitney up to the second line. W

NHL 15: Philly Flyers Regular Season Part 1(Year 1)

I forgot to mention, but injuries will be on, hopefully that will not be an issue. Let's start the regular season. At the beginning of the new year, we were about as horrible as expected. Filip Forsberg was really struggling on the first line, though our second line was doing very very well. I decided to move Forsberg down to the second line and put Simmons up to the first. Our defense was dragging down Steve Mason's numbers in the goal, so I looked to trade Braydon Coburn on the assumption that the defense needed more mobility. I traded Coburn and backup goalie Ray Emery, who had been struggling and had value, for young d-man Sami Vatanen, a 2014 3rd round pick and vet goalie Jason LaBarbera. Vatanen is only 23 years old and only 1 overall point worse, LaBarbera isn't much worse than Emery, plus I got the pick, I felt it was a good trade for a rebuilding team. After the trade, the team did definitely improve, as we were in last place before the trade, and finished Febr

NHL 15- Philly Flyers- Preseason Year 1

So we start GM mode with a look at the roster we have. Take a look at the lines. Forwards Simmons(86)-Giroux(90)-Voracek(90) Raffl(81)-Lecavalier(85)-Read(83) Umberger(81)-Schenn(84)-Couturier(83) Rinaldo(78)-White(80)-Gordon(77) Defensemen Del Zotto(85)-MacDonald(85) Coburn(85)-Streit(84) Timonen(83)-Schenn(82) Scratched- Grossman(82) Goalies Mason(85) Emery(83) The powerplay lines and penalty kill lines are just the recommended lines, I don't think they matter because we want to make some trades. Speaking of trades, I wanted to get going right off the bat. I was looking at Vinny Lecavalier and RJ Umberger as forwards we could trade. I was also looking at Mark Streit. I ended up trading both Lecavalier and Streit plus a 2016 3rd for Swiss Superstar Filip Forsberg from the Nashville Predators. I definitely feel we got the better end of the deal, with Forsberg looking amazing in real life. We also got Mathias Ekholm, which is nice for defensive cover. We also tra

NHL 15

Welcome to something new that hopefully lasts, my Philly Flyers NHL 15 Be A GM mode. Now, for this GM mode I will be simming exclusively, so no games during the regular season. I'll be doing the in-depth sims for the playoffs, so they'll be more detail there. The organization of this will be about four posts per in game year. One for offseason plus preseason, two for regular season and one for playoffs. If we go to the Stanley Cup, that will be it's own separate post. I'm hoping to go all 25 years, but I may not make it that far. At the beginning, I'll post a roster overview with overalls, and I'll do the same before every year. The rosters are not updated to recent terms, so a lot of the trades that happened in real life will probably not be a part of this GM mode. I chose the Flyers because they are my favorite team, mainly, but also because they need work. I don't think of Ron Hextall as a bad gm, but I think I can do better. I've found tons of succ

Blog Update

I've played quite a bit ahead in the St. Louis Rams franchise, and I find that I am definitely not enjoying myself. Madden 15 as a game is just not that enjoyable, and I feel my content will fall off if I'm doing something I don't enjoy. Therefore, I am canceling the series for now, but it may return at some other point. I also have done quite a bit of recording, and I'm not finding that's working very well either. It takes me quite a few days to prep everything just for one week, and I just don't think it's worth it. It took me almost two weeks just to make the week 1 update, and I didn't much care for the content I put out. I have some other ideas that will hopefully work better and get the blog back on the right track. -Henry
