Blog Update- February 2021

January was a more chaotic month than I anticipated going in, which could honestly mean a ton of different things, but I'm talking specifically about my blog. I started working on my "Dynasty by the Bay" series, which sunk thanks to my lack of interest in continuing to play games on Madden 12. Then I did a couple of AEW reviews, that was fun but didn't quite work for me, before I finally returned to my Universe Mode, and that was what stuck. Life never quite works out the way you expect it to, but hey, at least I'm having fun.

What does that mean? Well, for starters, I'm in the process of fully updating my wiki in preparation for Season 6. No guarantees on when that work will be done, but in the meantime, you can check out the roster page to see the updated rosters for all three brands following the "Free Agency Window". It's a brand new idea on my part in an attempt to replace the outdated "WWE Draft" format. Essentially, every wrestler, save for champions, had their contract expire at the end of Season 5, making all of them eligible to sign anywhere they please. I'm happy with the way the rosters ended up, I think there was enough change to keep things fresh and set up a load of interesting new storylines.

The plan is for Season 6 to start soon, likely within the next few days. As always, it will run all the way to WrestleMania V, which I expect should all take place on WWE 2k20. Should I push through all of that, I would then be facing a big choice over the future of the series, since it's not yet known what consoles 2k22 would be releasing on. I don't have a next-gen console, and I doubt I will by the end of the year, so we'll just have to wait and see.

As for anything non-Universe Mode, I have considered continuing my WWE pay-per-view reviews, though with the Network being absorbed into the Peacock streaming service, this is not a great period of time to jump in. If that's something I want to return to, I would likely want to wait until March 18th when the merger goes through. That's too far off to be much of a concern right now, which is why I remain concentrated on my Universe Mode.

American Dad "Twinanigans" Review

It's been a while since the last Steve and Roger episode, and this week reminded me why that's such a classic American Dad pairing. This is a genuinely fun episode, filled with some great one liners and even a great callback to the show's past. "Twinanigans" centers around the heretofore unmentioned acting careers of Roger and Steve, who twinned it up as the Smith Brothers. I'm not going to question whether this backstory actually makes sense to the overall timeline; no one watches American Dad for continuity. Steve had to give up acting to attend kindergarten, and wants to give Roger a second chance at greatness. The two head to auditions, where Steve impresses and Roger blows it. It's here the episode kinda misfires, as it's never made abundantly clear why Roger struggles so much at acting. Is he just trying too hard, does he have some form of stage fright, does he not even know what acting is? This part of the story is just never explained, w...

Henry's Pay-Per-View Reviews: ECW Heatwave 1998

As the world collectively loses it's mind over the coronavirus(this could be a fun intro to look back on in the future), the only sanity that can be found is in the ring. Let's take a look today at what is often considered ECW's finest outing, Heatwave '98. - Jokes aside, everyone should stay safe out there. I know it's easy to panic about these mass outbreaks, and I've certainly felt very nervous about everything I've heard and read over the past week. But I think we all need some fun in our lives right now, and this show is the epitome of distraction. - The opening contest is one of the highlights of the night, as Jerry Lynn takes on Justin Credible. Credible has an entire entourage in his corner, including Chastity, Jason and Nicole Bass, and their involvement in this match at times bordered on excessive. But the match begins to hit it's peak when Lynn puts Credible through a table with a hurricanrana, and it's all fantastic from...

Henry's Universe Mode #205: SmackDown Live

Over the weekend, big news was broken by SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan, as he announced two title rematches for No Mercy. First up, Kenny Omega will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Randy Orton, and in the second, John Cena will look to make his first defense as WWE Champion against AJ Styles. Tonight on SmackDown Live, it's another Summerslam rematch in the main event, as Alexa Bliss defends against Emma. Can the Australian Sensation punch her ticket to No Mercy? Plus, Heath Slater takes on Aiden English, and the Phenomenal One, AJ Styles, is in singles action. Universe Mode SmackDown Live September 12th, 2017 Location: Dallas, TX Heath Slater vs Aiden English This was a big chance for momentum for both of these two men, as Slater was kicked out of the Social Outcasts a few months ago, while English's tag team partner, Simon Gotch, was recently released. Both of these men showed a lot of potential, and got the crowd invested on a couple of nea...
