Completed Trades

This is a place for all completed trades. Latest on top. • The Dodgers have announced the acquisition of catcher Drew Butera from the Twins. The Twins will receive a PTBNL. • The Orioles have acquired starter Bud Norris from the Astros for outfielder L.J. Hoes, pitcher Josh Hader, and a competitive balance pick. • The Royals have acquired center fielder Justin Maxwell from the Astros. The Astros will receive a prospect pitcher in exchange. •Ian Kennedy has indeed been traded to the Padres. The D-Backs will receive Joe Thatcher, a prospect, and a compensation round B draft pick. This is surprisingly light for a Cy Young contender who has team control through 2015 and is only 28 years of age.

The Alfonso Soriano Trade

The speculation finally ended a few days ago, with the Cubs trading Alfonso Soriano to the New York Yankees. If you remember, Soriano used to be a Yankee, before signing with the Cubs. Always known  for his incredible power and incredible ability to miss half the pitches he saw in an at-bat by six feet or more, Soriano has been rumored to be traded for over two years now. As a Giants fan, I'm glad to see Soriano off the market, before Brian Sabean does anything stupid. What do you think?

Rumors around the League

Here we go, latest rumors on top. • Javier Lopez and the Giants share mutual interest in a return. • The Cardinals and Cubs have been unable to agree on a price for Dioner Navarro, and the Cardinals have stopped pursuing him. • The Tigers will not be going after Javier Lopez, and Bruce Bochy is certain he will stay in SF. • An issue with Josh Hader's medical may prevent him from going to Houston. • There appears to be a third piece involved in the Bud Norris deal. • The Braves have talked to the Yankees about Phil Hughes, but a deal doesn't seem to be in the works. • The Orioles continue to make headway on a trade involving Bud Norris. • The Phillies appear to be skeptical that they will make any move prior to the deadline. • The Pirates attempted to make a play for Angels outfielder Mark Trumbo. A starter may have been involved in a possible trade attempt. • Nick Cafardo reports that it looks likely that Nate Schierholtz will remain with the Cubbies. • The...

The Jake Peavy Trade

Last night, Jake Peavy became the newest member of the Boston Red Sox. It was a three-team deal involving the White Sox, Tigers, and the Red Sox. Peavy and Bryan Villarreal went to Boston, Jose Iglesias went to Detroit, and Avisail Garcia and three other prospects to Chicago. I believe this was a great trade for the Red Sox, with Clay Bucholtz still out. Peavy is a bone fide ace, with an impressive arsenal of pitches and motion. What do you think? Be sure to weigh in.

Ian Kennedy: Trade to Padres?

Latest update off the news wire: Ian Kennedy may be traded. The ace of the struggling D-Backs may be in San Diego by the end of the day. The Padres may be getting close to a deal involving Kennedy. Knowing the Padres, this would be a great move for them. Thoughts?
