Nearly 5 months of competition ran down to one final week, where Rascal hunted down his first Dog League Championship, going against a formidable Rare Woofs behemoth. In this post, I'll take a look at how each team finished, and reveal a few planned alterations for The Dog League moving forward.  Final Standings 1. Ridiculous Rascals 2. Rare Woofs 3. One last week remains on the schedule, as the eight Dog League teams finish up what has been a tumultuous campaign. As anticipated, Rare Woofs and Ridiculous Rascals will meet in the grand finale, but there's draft spots on the line for every other team, in addition to the all-important bragging rights.  Leaping Girl Final Record: (5-10, 8th Seed) As has been the case for most of this year, Leaping Girl was cannon fodder in Round 1 of the playoffs, getting devoured by Growlers in a near 100-point defeat. This week, she may get two new options at running back, with D'Andre Swift yet again attempting to get cleared, while Darrel Williams could get a boost with Clyde Edwards-Helaire banged up. Neither guy makes her lineup for now, but she does have a new starter in Isaiah McKenzie, who was added after Mike Evans (COVID) went to reserve.  UPDATE: The returns of Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis have caused Emma to drop Isaiah McKenzie, starting Tyler Boyd as her WR3 instead.  UP...

The playoff schedule is finally set, as Rare Woofs enter the fray, boasting the best record in the league and on the hunt for a three-peat, while the bottom four teams duke it out in an attempt to improve their draft position for next year.  Leaping Girl Final Record: (5-10, 8th Seed) Beset by injuries, Emma finished the year out cold, now staring down an uphill battle for relevancy in the consolation bracket. This week, she hopes to start Jalen Hurts and D'Andre Swift, benching Kyler Murray and Ezekiel Elliott, and brings in a new receiver with Mike Evans banged up, dropping Marvin Jones to add Gabriel Davis to start as the WR3. 14 weeks of competition wasn't enough for The Dog League to have a definitive playoff picture, as 5 teams head into the final week with a realistic shot at claiming the 4th seed. Only one can take it, though, so for these 5, plus Rascal and Rare Woofs at the top, this is by far the most important preparation of the year.  Growlers Current Record: (5-9, 8th Place) Growlers scored well in Week 14, topping 150 points, but stood no chance against Tug of War's fiery output. This week, Growlers are back at the bottom, and that allowed them to claim the top running back available, Rashaad Penny, dropping Alexander Mattison. Rascal finally fell in Week 13, setting him up for a showdown over first place, while the final playoff spot is up for grabs in a five-way tie.  Tug of War Current Record: (5-8, 8th Place) Week 13 was kind to Tug of War, who were bolstered by Tom Brady, Tee Higgins, and George Kittle, posting 174 points in a cakewalk win over Bark Force. They make one waiver move, adding D'Onta Foreman for insurance and dropping J.D. Rascal has a chance at history this week, as after beating the tar off of Tug of War, he's staring down a ten-game regular season winning streak, a feat that has never been accomplished in the Dog League before. This week, as he stares down history, an old foe re-emerges in an attempt to halt his victorious path, as Emma will tangle with her brother in a titanic showdown.  Tug of War Current Record: (4-8, 8th Place) Getting Saquon Barkley and Miles Sanders back provided a jolt to Tug of War on paper, but despite getting a big game from Eli Mitchell, the squad faltered, dropping their third straight game. The Dog League celebrates Thanksgiving this week, with the playoff picture beginning to clear as four more games remain on the regular season schedule.  Growlers Current Record: (3-8, 8th Place) Growlers had the misfortune of running into the Rascal buzzsaw last week, as 156 points was barely enough to prevent from losing by 50. This week, they start Elijah Moore, fresh off the biggest game in his rookie campaign, in their flex spot, while the return of Cordarrelle Patterson could get him the RB2 spot, currently held by Damien Harris. Growlers makes a change at defense, dropping the Browns to add the Bears, and brings in insurance for the banged-up A.J. Brown, dropping Emmanuel Sanders to add Nick Westbrook-Ikhine.  UPDATE: With A.J. Brown ruled out, Growlers will hope Cordarrelle Patterson can play this week, adding him to their lineup.  UPDATE: Brown has now gone to injured reserve, and Growlers used his roster spot to add Brandon Aiyuk, who starts over Damien Harris....

This week, they have a mess at running back, with Cordarrelle Patterson and Damien Harris carrying in injuries, while Williams will likely have to deal with the return of Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Growlers will start Darnell Mooney in the flex, leaving Williams to bump up to RB2, although the lineup will almost certainly change if Patterson or Harris are cleared. A wacky Week 9 saw one constant, as Rascal kept a firm grasp on his lead, and his challengers are beginning to fall away, with Tailwaggerz, Bark Force, and Leaping Girl all struggling. This week, they get back DK Metcalf and Chris Godwin, a huge boost that should immediately elevated their lineup. Bark Force was crippled in Week 8, losing their biggest star, Derrick Henry, for what could be the remainder of the year. Meanwhile, Rascal showed out in a big win over Canine Comets that induced the league's fifth lead change of 2021. (Reminder: the Dog League is a custom fantasy football league run on NFL.com) Canine Comets Current Record: (1-7, 8th Place) The Comets are now left alone in last place, with a team that continues to be crippled by injuries and the possibility of a lost season staring them in the face. The situation gets even worse this week, as receivers Chris Godwin and DK Metcalf go on bye, forcing the less reliable duo of Jaylen Waddle and Jerry Jeudy into the starting lineup. They make two changes at running back, hoping to freshen that aspect of the roster up, as they drop Alex Collins and Kenneth Gainwell to add Zack Moss and Jeremy McNichols. Leaping Girl and Tailwaggerz, each scoring over 170 points last week, combined to knock Bark Force off their perch atop the Dog League, giving the league it's fourth lead change of the year. They do get a lifeline in the form of a potential Nick Chubb return, plus Diontae Johnson coming back from bye, and list both players as their top options at running back and receiver. They also add the top option on the waiver wire, Kenneth Gainwell, and will aim to start him at their flex spot, benching Jaylen Waddle. Week 7 sees 6 different NFL teams go on bye, which includes a large amount of Dog League players that will now be unavailable. As such, lineups will be significantly weaker than normal, and you will see wholesale changes for several teams that essentially won't have a bench this week. In addition, you will now see more starters, as I have instituted a 3 starting receiver policy, in addition to the flex starting spot. This week, Growlers are once again very active on the waiver wire, dropping Damien Harris and Kenny Golladay to pick up Darrel Williams and Emmanuel Sanders.
