NHL 15: Philly Flyers Regular Season Part 1(Year 5)

Taking breaks in-between seasons longer than any active TV show, it's the Philly Flyers GM Mode!

Finally, the Philly Flyers GM Mode returns to my blog. It's been about four months, but I've returned to this series ready to continue forward. When we left off, we'd just lost the Stanley Cup Finals to the Colorado Avs, and I was pretty upset. Let's start off the return of the series with the annual Prospect Watch.

Prospect Watch(top 15 prospects not currently on the NHL team):
1. Logan Brown, center, 20 years old, 75 overall, 4 1/2 yellow star potential
2. Cale Fleury, defenseman, 19 years old, 65 overall, 4 1/2 yellow star potential
3. Logan Flodell, goalie, 21 years old, 78 overall, 4 1/2 yellow star potential
4. Ivan Provorov, defenseman, 21 years old, 73 overall, 4 1/2 red star potential
5. Samuel Morin, defenseman, 23 years old, 79 overall, 4 yellow star potential
6. Evan Weinger, right winger, 21 years old, 77 overall, 4 yellow star potential
7. Alexis Pepin, left winger, 22 years old, 77 overall, 4 yellow star potential
8. Evan Smith, goalie, 21 years old, 75 overall, 4 yellow star potential
9. Spencer Watson, right winger, 22 years old, 78 overall, 4 red star potential
10. Glenn Gawdin, center, 21 years old, 77 overall, 4 red star potential
11. Nick Merkley, center, 21 years old, 73 overall, 4 red star potential
12. Olivier Galipeau, defenseman, 21 years old, 71 overall, 4 red star potential
13. Philippe Burrows, left winger, 20 years old, 70 overall, 4 red star potential
14. Kyle Makismovich, left winger, 20 years old, 68 overall, 4 red star potential
15. Marshall Shantz, right winger, 19 years old, 67 overall, 4 red star potential

We continue to have a stacked list of prospects, a sign of how bad we were at the start of this series, with Logan Brown and Cale Fleury leading the way. Brown looks close to being ready, but I might hold him and the other Logan, Logan Flodell, back for Cale Fleury. All three debuting at the same time would be awesome.

Here is a reminder of what our lines look like:

Forwards
Burakovsky(85)-Giroux(90)-Voracek(90)
Duclair(83)-Horvat(85)-Forsberg(86)
Perlini(83)-Couturier(85)-Versteeg(81)
Lemieux(80)-Corneil(80)-Reaves(80)

Defensemen
Ekman-Larsson(86)-Jones(86)
Gostisbehere(85)-Hagg(85)
Pettersson(83)-Meloche(82)

Goalies
Campbell(89)
Schmidmeyer(82)

A new name to the lineup is Johnny Corneil, filling the 4th line center. He's an offensively minded center, but has enough hockey awareness to play some defense, and can bang on the 4th line.

The start of the season wasn't kind to us, as we played the champs and the Lightning, the team we beat in the Eastern Conference Finals, 4 times in the first 2 months. Another long term injury to Claude Giroux, and a beat up defense, led to a 17-14-3 record to end 2018.

We got Giroux back in January, and turned our season around. From the end of January to mid February, we rolled out an impressive 12 game winning streak. We entered March, and the trade deadline, with a record of 34-21-5, good for 73 points, putting us right in the midst of the playoff race. Here are the team stat leaders:

Goals: Jakub Voracek, 37
Assists: Jakub Voracek, 34
Plus/Minus: Shayne Gostisbehere, +12
PIMS: Ryan Reaves, 104
Wins: Jack Campbell, 29

Led by a strong season from Jakub Voracek, the Flyers are right in it. Next post, we got into the trade deadline. Will deals be made? Tune in next time!

Henry's Universe Mode #231: WrestleMania II (Part 3)

Finn Balor vs The Undertaker Finn Balor felt the full force of the strikes of The Undertaker in the early going, eating rights and lefts to the skull. The Undertaker continued to lay into Balor, dumping him to the floor with a clothesline, then following up with his vintage suicide dive! After a brief skirmish on the outside, the Deadman got destructive, grabbing the Demon's throat and driving him through the announce table with a chokeslam! It was here that The Undertaker allowed Finn Balor a chance to just give up and concede defeat, but Balor wasn't having any of it. Finn got his second wind, countering an attempted chokeslam to connect with a reverse DDT, then the shotgun dropkick in the corner. Up top, Finn connected with Coup de Grace! 1........................2.......................but it's going to take a lot more to put The Undertaker away, especially at WrestleMania. Balor laid in some shots, busting The Undertaker open, but that proved to be a huge mistake. ...

American Dad "Stompe Le Monde" Review

You know, I once tried to make it in musical theater. If only I had watched this episode beforehand, I would've known I needed a leather jacket to truly make it. Alas, those dreams are for a more pretentious soul than mine. "Stompe Le Monde" is a wild episode of American Dad, one that starts with Stan's previously unknown uncle dying and ends with wanton destruction of many Sonic Drive-Ins. It's a crazy a journey as it sounds, one that left me just struggling to keep up. The family to use the new inheritance to travel to New York City, but Stan quickly blows the money on the rights to Stomp, which is apparently a real musical. The whole town of Langley is very excited to see the new show, but Stan has no idea what he's doing, never once hiring a director or even rehearsing. Why this only came up literally minutes before opening is anyone's guess. The Smith Family is forced to go on the run, and are attacked by many ferocious coyotes off-screen. In ye...

American Dad "The Hand that Rocks the Rogu" Review

American Dad as a show is definitely not afraid to get a little freaky, and nothing is more evident than the existence of Rogu, Roger's tumor that became a character himself in "Persona Assistant". Rogu primarily works as a character because he stays in the background, but this week, he takes a starring role in one of the weirdest American Dad episodes to date. "The Hand that Rocks the Rogu" has little in the way of traditional plot structure, and can only barely be considered an episode at all. It's more a collection of funny and bizarre skits, with a few running plot points that end up forming some sort of resolution. Steve wants to become a babysitter, but Francine says he's not ready, so he needs to prove himself to her. He does that by taking care of Rogu, as Roger is off for a night of NSFW activities. Steve is instructed not to let Rogu have candy or screentime, but violates both rules almost immediately. It turns out that Rogu multiplies w...
