Trying something new for tonight's show, as I will be updating this post live, before sending it out immediately after the show ends. Because of that, there will be no intro here, sorry. Anyway, it's a stacked card tonight, and I'm very excited, so let's get to it. Welcome to my recap of WrestleMania 34.
WrestleMania 31 Score: 9/10
WrestleMania 32 Score: 5/10
WrestleMania 33 Score: 9/10
- Kick-off thoughts: Enjoyed the Andre battle royal, one of the best they've ran in my opinion. Loved Bray with a potential face turn to assist Woken Matt's win. Cedric Alexander has worked his a** off to get in this position, and it was great to see him finally become champion, in what was a very good match that could've used more time. Why on Earth did Naomi win the women's battle royal? Bayley eliminating Sasha was a great moment, and really should've been the finish. A flat way to end the pre-show.
- You knew Seth Rollins, Finn Balor and The Miz would have an amazing match to open up WrestleMania, and they sure as hell delivered. An incredible match, with some ridiculous spots, including two Curb Stomps by Seth, on delivered to Balor on top of Miz. Congrats to Seth for finishing off the Grand Slam!
- Charlotte and Asuka had an absolute belter of a match, certainly one of, if not the greatest women's matches in WrestleMania history. Charlotte in particular took some incredible bumps, including a suplex to the floor, getting her moonsault countered into an armbar and hitting a Spanish Fly. In one of the most genuinely shocking moments WWE has had in a long time, she WON, ending the streak on Asuka. Her streak had to end sooner or later, so why not to one of the best in the world in an amazing match at WrestleMania?
- The United States Championship match already looked incredibly pointless, but there was at least some potential to allow the crowd to get a Rusev win. Then Jinder won, and it kind of took the air out of everything. A shame, really.
- Ronda Rousey is a frickin' star, and anyone that doubted her has to eat crow after her performance tonight. A mixed tag match being one of the best matches of the entire night is totally unexpected, but this was above and beyond any expectation. Great job all the way around.
- Not every match can be a 5 star classic, so unfortunately the SmackDown tag title match ended up being filler. It had to follow up an incredible match, so I can see why it happened, and I'm glad Harper and Rowan looked dominant, but it was a little disappointing.
- Hey, The Undertaker is here! He looked real good in the ring, and I'm glad they established some continuity after the ending to last year's 'Mania. The entrance was everything this match had to offer, and it was great. That's all that was necessary.
- Congratulations to Daniel Bryan on his return; he hasn't missed a beat. Interested to see where Sami and Kevin go from here, most likely to Raw.
- With the story told between Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax, there could only be one result, and I'm very happy Nia became the one to dethrone Bliss. The match went a little long, but was mostly fine, and did what it needed to.
- AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura had a good match, but far from anything that seemed like a "WrestleMania Main Event" caliber. They had a 30-minute match in a 20-minute time slot, and AJ Styles winning seemed like a strange choice. But Shinsuke's low blow..........yeah, I'm fully ready for heel Swagsuke. Let's do this.
- So some kid named Nicholas is apparently now one half of the Raw Tag Team Champions. Yep.
- Alright, who let the writing team snort all that cocaine before booking a seven hour pay-per-view? Why, on Earth or any universe across the galaxy, would anyone in their right mind think Roman Reigns should be losing clean in the main event of WrestleMania to Brock Lesnar? Who thought this was a good idea, beyond just the "LOL swerve" reaction? I hope to God they've got their booking caps on tomorrow, because this is a total mess. Roman even got the crimson mask on to get this thing over, and he still lost. Nakamura's loss can be justified, because it signifies a significant change in his character. But what does Roman's loss do, other than confuse and bewilder the audience?
