NHL 15: Philly Flyers PLAYOFFS!!! Round 2 vs Ottawa(Year 5)

PREVIEW The Ottawa Senators finished the regular season with a 45-34-3 record, good for 93 points and the third seed in the Atlantic Division. In the first round, they took down the second seed Montreal Canadiens in six games. The Senators are led by veteran sniper Bobby Ryan, who notched four goals and four assists in Round 1. Their defensive corps is talented and deep, featuring team captain Erik Karlsson and young star Kord Pankewicz. In net, Robin Lehner had an excellent first round, allowing only thirteen goals to the dangerous Canadiens offense. This team may lack the superstar talent of a team like the Lightning, but they are not to be overlooked. NHL 15: Philly Flyers PLAYOFFS!!! Round 1 vs Tampa Bay(Year 5)

As I discussed in the blog update I posted a few days ago, I was considering bringing back this series, and now I have. As we enter the fifth year of this GM Mode with the Flyers, we make our second trip to the playoffs, facing off with the Tampa Bay Lightning in Round 1. Can we earn redemption after falling in the Stanley Cup Finals last year? Let's find out! Here's a look at what our lines will look like heading into the first round. I've decided to use Best Lines, meaning that they won't look the same as they did last time. Forwards Rattie(84)-Giroux(90)-Voracek(90) Burakovsky(85)-Horvat(85)-Forsberg(85) Duclair(83)-Couturier(85)-Perlini(83) Lemieux(80)-White(80)-Reaves(80) Defensemen Ekman-Larsson(86)-Jones(86) Hagg(85)-Gostisbehere(85) Pettersson(83)-Meloche(83) Goalies Campbell(89) Schmidmeyer(82) PREVIEW We met Tampa Bay in last year's Eastern Conference Finals, winning in a gritty seven game battle. They finished this season with a 48...

Blog Update- August 2018

I promise you this isn't a monthly thing, it just sort of happened that I have two months in a row where posting a blog update was necessary. I've done some thinking, and I've made (mostly solid) plans for the rest of the year, and it was important that I share them. This may not be the news you want to hear, but I'm happy with the plans that I've made, and I hope you can be too. Let's start off with the bad news: as of now, there are no plans for any more Universe Mode content for the remainder of 2018. I've reached the beginning of Season 4 of that series, which was always the plan, and now I'm ready to take a break from posting it. This might start becoming a yearly thing, since I took a hiatus from posting Henry's Universe Mode at this time last year as well. This decision was for the same reason as last year, as football season is starting soon, and I intend to bring you plenty of Dog League coverage. I simply don't have the time or the m...

Henry's Universe Mode #231: WrestleMania II (Part 3)

Finn Balor vs The Undertaker Finn Balor felt the full force of the strikes of The Undertaker in the early going, eating rights and lefts to the skull. The Undertaker continued to lay into Balor, dumping him to the floor with a clothesline, then following up with his vintage suicide dive! After a brief skirmish on the outside, the Deadman got destructive, grabbing the Demon's throat and driving him through the announce table with a chokeslam! It was here that The Undertaker allowed Finn Balor a chance to just give up and concede defeat, but Balor wasn't having any of it. Finn got his second wind, countering an attempted chokeslam to connect with a reverse DDT, then the shotgun dropkick in the corner. Up top, Finn connected with Coup de Grace! 1........................2.......................but it's going to take a lot more to put The Undertaker away, especially at WrestleMania. Balor laid in some shots, busting The Undertaker open, but that proved to be a huge mistake. ...

Henry's Universe Mode: WrestleMania II Preview(Part 3)

WrestleMania Card Finn Balor vs The Undertaker On the Raw following Elimination Chamber, we got not one but two big returns to the red brand. First, The Undertaker made his first appearance since Summerslam, challenging anyone in the back to face him. His challenge was answered by Finn Balor, making his first appearance since Armageddon. The stage is set for a true dream match at WrestleMania. The Demon versus the Deadman. Who takes home the victory on the Grandest Stage of Them All? Tyler Breeze(c) vs Brock Lesnar vs Drew McIntyre- WWE Championship Match There was simply no way Tyler Breeze was willing to face Brock Lesnar without backup, but Daniel Bryan was unwilling to cave to the champion's demands. A desperate Breeze then demanded Drew McIntyre be added to the match, but Bryan still wasn't budging. Finally, a deal was struck. McIntyre would face Lesnar on SmackDown, and if Drew won, it would now be a triple threat championship match. The two hosses knocked lumps...

Henry's Universe Mode #230: WrestleMania II (Part 2)

Three championships matches, plus Brand Warfare. Welcome to Part 2 of WrestleMania. The Usos(c) vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens- Ladder Match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships The Usos had a strategy, working to isolate either Sami Zayn or Kevin Owens, quickly getting the opportunity with Owens alone in the ring. Neither member of the champions went for a ladder until Owens was thoroughly taken care of, but their diligent strategy backfired. As both Usos climbed the ladder, Sami Zayn re-entered, knocking Jimmy Uso off with a dropkick, then scaling the ladder to meet Jey. Zayn showed just how much of a maniac he could be, superplexing Jey Uso off the ladder to the floor, taking out both men! This left Kevin Owens and Jimmy Uso alone in the ring, allowing Owens to get devious, putting Jimmy through a ladder with a powerbomb! Somehow, Jey got back into the match, and got his revenge on Sami. With a ladder set up in the corner, Jey launched himself with a crossbody, putting Za...

Henry's Universe Mode: WrestleMania II Preview(Part 2)

WrestleMania Card The Usos(c) vs Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens- Ladder Match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships After defeating the Young Bucks at Elimination Chamber, The Usos were eager to know who their next challengers would be, but less excited when former champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens made their way to the ring. Zayn and Owens announced that they would be invoking their rematch clause at WrestleMania, but that wasn't just it. They then said they want to make sure that the lasting image of The Show of Shows is themselves, reigning above every other tag team. To accomplish that dream, they challenged The Usos to a ladder match! Four men, multiple ladders and pure chaos is sure to ensue in Part 2's opening match. Samoa Joe(Raw) vs Cesaro(SmackDown)- Brand Warfare Match With multiple big names left off the WrestleMania card, Vince McMahon made a big announcement, heralding the return of Brand Warfare. Both shows will send one representative to battle it out,...

Henry's Universe Mode #229: WrestleMania II (Part 1)

It all starts with a dream; one born in their backyards, in their fantasies and in their sleep. For most, it will never be more than that; just a dream, never to be realized, never to be recognized. But for a few, they can receive a chance, sometimes just once, to make their dreams something more than that. This is what WrestleMania represents. To be in the spotlight, to be remembered, to be revered, but more importantly, to fight for your dreams. Because dreams are fleeting, and opportunity is scarce. Before you know it, dreams are dust. This is the grandeur, this is the glory, this is the spectacle of the greatest wrestling show in the world, never to be beaten, never to be replicated. Welcome to the Show of Shows, welcome to the Showcase of the Immortals, welcome to the Grandaddy of Them All. Welcome to WrestleMania. Henry's Universe Mode: WrestleMania II Preview(Part 1)

Since this is WrestleMania, I've decided to do preview posts for all three parts, allowing me to fully breakdown the storylines and hype the matches. Here's the first four matches of WrestleMania. WrestleMania Card The Shield(c) vs New Day- Raw Tag Team Championship Match With #DIY now defeated, The Shield have beaten just about every team on Raw. Every team, that is, except for the New Day, who will be next to step up to the plate. In the first in-ring confrontation between the two factions, the Hounds of Justice struck first, delivering a signature triple powerbomb to Xavier Woods. If Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston are to topple The Shield in WrestleMania's opening match, they may need a miracle. Nia Jax(c) vs Beth Phoenix- SmackDown Women's Championship Match Like The Shield, Nia Jax has beaten just about everyone, including newcomer Kairi Sane, whom she dispatched of on SmackDown following Elimination Chamber. With no one willing to challenge for th...

Henry's Universe Mode #228: Elimination Chamber(Part 2)

Welcome to Part 2 of Elimination Chamber, where The Usos and Braun Strowman put their gold on the line, and six men must enter the Chamber for a shot at the WWE Championship. The Usos(c) vs Young Bucks- SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match Jimmy and Jey Uso were willing to do whatever it took to win the tag team championships, and they were back to their usual tricks in this match. Anytime Nick and Matt Jackson got any momentum flowing, they were quickly shut down by a cheap shot, an eye poke or an unnoticed low blow. Finally, the challengers had had enough, abandoning any pretense of respect. The Young Bucks brought the fight to The Usos, and the official lost all control of the match, with all four men brawling both inside and outside the ring. But as established at Armageddon, The Usos thrive in chaos, and their communication remained top notch. They isolated Nick Jackson in the ring while Matt was laid out on the floor, putting the match away after two Uso Splashes. Win...

Cloak & Dagger "Colony Collapse" Review

For much of its first season, Cloak & Dagger has mostly refused to accept its status as a superhero show. Subverting expectations has led to plenty of strong, nuanced episodes, as well as plenty of weak ones, bogged down by needless philosophical debates and little action. In the finale, all nuance and subtlety are thrown out the window, and I think this show is better for it. For the first half, "Colony Collapse" starts slow, mostly working off what we saw last week. Tandy and Mina join together to battle the "terrors", before Mina becomes infected. Also, Tyrone and O'Reilly are arrested, and try and work together to escape. The police station comes under attack, and that allows Tyrone to do the unexpected, saving the people who are framing him for murder. None of this is particularly enthralling, but it's all necessary to set up the second act, which is the whole reason for the episode and show's existence. After working apart, Tandy and Tyr...
