The Revolution: Episode 1(Ready, Willing and Gable)

Welcome to the first episode of The Revolution. Over the next few weeks, we will embark on the start of what will hopefully be a very long and enjoyable journey, as the first NXT Champion will be crowned. Today, we begin with what should be two incredible matches. First up, the man who refers to himself as "Mr. NXT", Roderick Strong, faces the final graduate of the Hart Dungeon, Tyson Kidd. In our main event, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles faces former Olympian, Chad Gable. Welcome to NXT.

Roderick Strong vs Tyson Kidd- NXT Championship Tournament 1st Round Match

Straight away, these two technicians opened up with a collar and elbow tie-up, exchanging hammerlocks and escapes. Kidd took control early with a series of strikes in the corner, and got a few near falls following two beautiful suplexes. Strong fired back with incredible power, planting Kidd with a big facebuster and a nasty half nelson backbreaker. This set up an early connection of the Sick Kick, but Strong didn't make the cover, looking for the End of Heartache as well. This decision allowed Kidd an opportunity back into the match, and he caught Strong with the Code Blue neckbreaker for a narrow near fall. The two men exchanged forearms in the middle of the ring, but out of his back pocket, Strong found another Sick Kick! Once again, he looked for the End of Heartache, but Kidd fell before he could quite find his footing. Seeing an opening, Strong scaled the turnbuckles instead....

Winner: Roderick Strong
Finish: Top Rope Elbow Drop

Chad Gable vs AJ Styles- NXT Championship Tournament 1st Round Match

This was a big opportunity for one half of American Alpha, Chad Gable, as he took on tournament favorite AJ Styles. Gable knew that he was a tremendous underdog in this situation, and he came out like a house a fire, taking down Styles with an armbar. He worked over AJ on the ground, keeping the daredevil down. AJ, perhaps sensing that a major upset was on the cards, got desperate, using an eye poke to get back to his feet, drawing boos from the Full Sail crowd. The Phenomenal One showed why he is a former NWA, IWGP and WWE Champion, wrestling rings around a flustered Gable. It all seemed to be over for Gable, but there was a twist in the tale. Once more, Gable's music played, but this time it was Jason Jordan who made his way to the ring. Styles was briefly distracted, and Chad took advantage, connecting with his O'Connor Roll German Suplex. The upset was achieved! One......two.........kick-out! Both members of American Alpha lost their minds, as Styles somehow survived. AJ rallied, taking down Gable with a Pele Kick and Jordan with a beautiful moonsault plancha. The Phenomenal One climbed up to the apron, as Gable slowly staggered to his feet....

Winner: AJ Styles
Finish: Phenomenal Forearm

Thank you for tuning into the first episode of The Revolution. As you can see, I'm experimenting with a different way of presenting matches, and hopefully I'll get better as this series goes along. Did you enjoy this first post, with the new format? Feel free to leave a comment on here or on Twitter, and catch the next episode of The Revolution this Thursday.

American Dad "Twinanigans" Review

It's been a while since the last Steve and Roger episode, and this week reminded me why that's such a classic American Dad pairing. This is a genuinely fun episode, filled with some great one liners and even a great callback to the show's past. "Twinanigans" centers around the heretofore unmentioned acting careers of Roger and Steve, who twinned it up as the Smith Brothers. I'm not going to question whether this backstory actually makes sense to the overall timeline; no one watches American Dad for continuity. Steve had to give up acting to attend kindergarten, and wants to give Roger a second chance at greatness. The two head to auditions, where Steve impresses and Roger blows it. It's here the episode kinda misfires, as it's never made abundantly clear why Roger struggles so much at acting. Is he just trying too hard, does he have some form of stage fright, does he not even know what acting is? This part of the story is just never explained, w...

Henry's Pay-Per-View Reviews: ECW Heatwave 1998

As the world collectively loses it's mind over the coronavirus(this could be a fun intro to look back on in the future), the only sanity that can be found is in the ring. Let's take a look today at what is often considered ECW's finest outing, Heatwave '98. - Jokes aside, everyone should stay safe out there. I know it's easy to panic about these mass outbreaks, and I've certainly felt very nervous about everything I've heard and read over the past week. But I think we all need some fun in our lives right now, and this show is the epitome of distraction. - The opening contest is one of the highlights of the night, as Jerry Lynn takes on Justin Credible. Credible has an entire entourage in his corner, including Chastity, Jason and Nicole Bass, and their involvement in this match at times bordered on excessive. But the match begins to hit it's peak when Lynn puts Credible through a table with a hurricanrana, and it's all fantastic from...

Henry's Universe Mode #205: SmackDown Live

Over the weekend, big news was broken by SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan, as he announced two title rematches for No Mercy. First up, Kenny Omega will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Randy Orton, and in the second, John Cena will look to make his first defense as WWE Champion against AJ Styles. Tonight on SmackDown Live, it's another Summerslam rematch in the main event, as Alexa Bliss defends against Emma. Can the Australian Sensation punch her ticket to No Mercy? Plus, Heath Slater takes on Aiden English, and the Phenomenal One, AJ Styles, is in singles action. Universe Mode SmackDown Live September 12th, 2017 Location: Dallas, TX Heath Slater vs Aiden English This was a big chance for momentum for both of these two men, as Slater was kicked out of the Social Outcasts a few months ago, while English's tag team partner, Simon Gotch, was recently released. Both of these men showed a lot of potential, and got the crowd invested on a couple of nea...
