The Dog League: Week 3 Preview (2021 Season)

Week 2 of the Dog League saw Leaping Girl remain consistent, Canine Comets left out in the cold again, and a new top contender crowned in the wake of a mediocre performance by Ridiculous Rascals. Two unbeatens remain. Bring on Week 3. (Reminder: the Dog League is a custom fantasy football league run on NFL.com)

Growlers

Current Record: (0-2, 8th Place)

The Growlers put up a solid fight in Week 2, keyed by a 19 point outing from their Patriots defense, and hung in against the more powerful Rare Woofs for as long as they could, before inevitably falling short. Heading into Week 3, the Growlers will hope their Williams' can push them on to their first win, as Ty'Son Williams starts over Damien Harris as the RB2, while Mike Williams joins the team (Brandon Aiyuk was dropped), and starts in the flex, sending Allen Robinson to the bench. Meanwhile, they also made a move at backup quarterback, dropping the injured Tua Tagovailoa to bring in Derek Carr, who is also banged up, but has been excellent to start this year.

Week 3 Starting Lineup(vs Canine Comets)

QB Josh Allen
RB Austin Ekeler
RB Ty'Son Williams
WR Calvin Ridley
WR A.J. Brown
TE Tyler Higbee
WR Mike Williams
K Rodrigo Blankenship
DEF New England Patriots

Canine Comets

Current Record: (0-2, 7th Place)

The Comets are the most unfortunate team in the league thus far in 2021, currently the highest scoring team of the eight, but without a win to show for it. Their roster is clearly not the main issue, they just have to be luckier and face a weaker opponent, and this week, they face a very beatable Growlers squad, as the two new expansion teams square off looking to put a win on the board. The Comets make no waiver moves, and one change to the starting lineup, as the Bills defense, fresh off a 27 point game, get the start as they host Washington. There may need to be another new starter this week if Diontae Johnson can't go, with Corey Davis, Antonio Brown, and JuJu Smith-Schuster all vying for the replacement job.

UPDATE: With Antonio Brown testing positive for COVID-19, the Comets have dropped him (primarily because of a conflict of interest between rostering him and Chris Godwin) to add breakout Cardinals rookie Rondale Moore.

UPDATE (x2): With Diontae Johnson ruled out, JuJu Smith-Schuster will start in his place.

Week 3 Starting Lineup(vs Growlers)

QB Patrick Mahomes
RB Nick Chubb
RB Chris Carson
WR Chris Godwin
WR DK Metcalf
TE Travis Kelce
WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
K Younghoe Koo
DEF Buffalo Bills

Rare Woofs

Current Record: (1-1, 6th Place)

The defending champions opened up their tab last week with a 21 point win over the Growlers, and are surely bemoaning the fact that they have to start two running backs, as their receiving corps (Stefon Diggs, Justin Jefferson, Tyler Lockett, Julio Jones, D.J. Moore, and Deebo Samuel) just doesn't have enough starting spots to go around. But they'll have to figure out how to manage all this talent, and attempt to capitalize whenever advantageous opportunities present themselves. For this week, Diggs, Jefferson, and Lockett remain the starting trio. Rare Woofs definitely needed a new defense, and dropped the Packers to bring in the Panthers, whom they will stream for tomorrow night's game, starting over the Dolphins defense. Rare Woofs will also consider starting Noah Fant this week, who faces a very beatable Jets defense, though they are uncertain about benching Mark Andrews this quickly.

Week 3 Starting Lineup(vs Tug of War)

QB Justin Herbert
RB Christian McCaffrey
RB David Montgomery
WR Stefon Diggs
WR Justin Jefferson
TE Mark Andrews
WR Tyler Lockett
K Greg Zuerlein
DEF Carolina Panthers

Tailwaggerz

Current Record: (1-1, 5th Place)

Tailwaggerz weren't great last week, posting just 119 point, but didn't have to be, as Ridiculous Rascals completely cratered in an embarrassing performance that got Tailwaggerz their first win of the year. This week, they face a conundrum at wide receiver, where the current rotation leaves the talented Terry McLaurin on the bench, and for now, that's the way things will stay, though the issue may be revisited in the days to come. At running back, Melvin Gordon enters the starting lineup to replace Antonio Gibson, as he prepares to face the Jets, whom he torched for over 100 yards and two touchdowns last season. They might have to be worried about the health of Dalvin Cook, though any concern over Cook should be alleviated by having the likes of Gibson and Najee Harris available to fill in if needed. For their sole waiver move this week, Tailwaggerz make a tricky little play, dropping D.J. Chark to add Brandon Aiyuk, let go earlier by the Growlers, in the hope that Aiyuk might recapture his 2020 form.

UPDATE: Tailwaggerz have elected to start Antonio Gibson again this week, moving Gordon to the bench, though he may be called upon to start if Dalvin Cook is out.

UPDATE (x2): With Dalvin Cook unlikely to play, Najee Harris will start in his place.

Week 3 Starting Lineup(vs Leaping Girl)

QB Dak Prescott
RB Antonio Gibson
RB Najee Harris
WR Keenan Allen
WR Cooper Kupp
TE Kyle Pitts
WR Adam Thielen
K Harrison Butker
DEF Arizona Cardinals

Tug of War

Current Record: (1-1, 4th Place)

Tug of War remains in the top half of the league despite a loss to Leaping Girl where they wasted a 30 point game from Tom Brady, and a 41 point game from Aaron Jones. Their starting lineup, on the whole, hasn't been terrific this year, and a rib injury to Amari Cooper continues to add clouds to their day. For now, they bring back Saquon Barkley to start, sending Miles Sanders to the bench, though Sanders could be utilized as an emergency option for Monday night if Cooper can't go. Amari is joined in the starting lineup by Marquise Brown, starting this week with a favorable matchup against the Lions, and if it seems like the Cowboys wideout is in serious danger on Sunday, he could also be replaced by Odell Beckham, should Beckham be cleared to play this week. Tug of War added a new running back this week, dropping James Conner to pick up Devin Singletary, and will start the Chiefs defense over Washington's, hoping Kansas City can make some plays at home against the potent Chargers offense.

UPDATE: With Tee Higgins doubtful, Tug of War will start Chase Claypool again this week.

Week 3 Starting Lineup(vs Rare Woofs)

QB Tom Brady
RB Aaron Jones
RB Saquon Barkley
WR Amari Cooper
WR Marquise Brown
TE George Kittle
WR Chase Claypool
K Tyler Bass
DEF Kansas City Chiefs

Ridiculous Rascals

Current Record: (1-1, 3rd Place)

Rascal fell out of first place with an atrocious 95 point showing in Week 2, but has elected not to overreact, making no waiver moves this week. He does make two changes to his starting lineup, first starting Brandin Cooks over Ja'Marr Chase in the flex, and bringing in Mike Davis to start over Joe Mixon. The Cooks start is fairly obvious, he's been great this year, and Davis is in due to his matchup against the Giants, who's run defense has been poor through the first two weeks.

UPDATE: Rascal will start the 49ers defense over the Rams defense this week, in the hopes that they can continue their momentum from an impressive performance against the Eagles.

Week 3 Starting Lineup(vs Bark Force)

QB Russell Wilson
RB Jonathan Taylor
RB Mike Davis
WR Tyreek Hill
WR Robert Woods
TE Darren Waller
WR Brandin Cooks
K Justin Tucker
DEF San Francisco 49ers

Leaping Girl

Current Record: (2-0, 2nd Place)

Leaping Girl survived a Monday night scare, as Aaron Jones came 16 points short of causing one of the most shocking results in Dog League history, and now Emma can move on to her challenge of first place. She does so with an old friend returning, as Michael Pittman returns to the roster, replacing Trey Sermon, and with a new starting receiver, as Courtland Sutton takes the place of Mike Evans for this week.

UPDATE: With DeAndre Hopkins potentially limited with a rib injury, Emma will start Mike Evans in his place. She will also bench Ezekiel Elliott for Tyler Boyd, as Boyd should see extra work with Tee Higgins out today.

Week 3 Starting Lineup(vs Tailwaggerz)

QB Kyler Murray
RB Alvin Kamara
RB D'Andre Swift
WR Mike Evans
WR Courtland Sutton
TE T.J. Hockenson
WR Tyler Boyd
K Ryan Succop
DEF Pittsburgh Steelers

Bark Force

Current Record: (2-0, 1st Place)

For the first time in franchise history, Bark Force finds themselves in first place, earning a hard-fought win over the Canine Comets to get there. After three years of underwhelming results from strong rosters, Bark Force has finally figured out how to win, and now has to figure how to stay in pole position. They do have the talent to stick around, sneaking in last week to claim Sterling Shepard (dropping Will Fuller), who heads straight into the starting lineup, taking the flex spot. That spot was vacated by the injured Jarvis Landry, who sticks around in the reserves, and the extra roster spot that was freed up goes to Jared Cook, the team's new backup tight end. Lamar Jackson re-takes his starting quarterback role, as Bark Force elects not to rely too heavily on the duo of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams.

UPDATE: Bark Force will start Myles Gaskin over James Robinson this week, as Gaskin has a lighter matchup against the Raiders than Robinson has against the Cardinals.

Week 3 Starting Lineup(vs Ridiculous Rascals)

QB Lamar Jackson
RB Derrick Henry
RB James Robinson
WR Davante Adams
WR CeeDee Lamb
TE Logan Thomas
WR Sterling Shepard
K Daniel Carlson
DEF Denver Broncos

American Dad "Twinanigans" Review

It's been a while since the last Steve and Roger episode, and this week reminded me why that's such a classic American Dad pairing. This is a genuinely fun episode, filled with some great one liners and even a great callback to the show's past. "Twinanigans" centers around the heretofore unmentioned acting careers of Roger and Steve, who twinned it up as the Smith Brothers. I'm not going to question whether this backstory actually makes sense to the overall timeline; no one watches American Dad for continuity. Steve had to give up acting to attend kindergarten, and wants to give Roger a second chance at greatness. The two head to auditions, where Steve impresses and Roger blows it. It's here the episode kinda misfires, as it's never made abundantly clear why Roger struggles so much at acting. Is he just trying too hard, does he have some form of stage fright, does he not even know what acting is? This part of the story is just never explained, w...

The Route of Life

dedicated to my hermits, who changed my life Ch 1 My Hermit crabs Hermit crabs are sometimes hard to take care of. Especially when you never had a hermit. Last Sunday afternoon I got 2 Hermit crabs. Their names are Crabbe and Goyle. I have talked with many sales people. The first Petco we went to (where we got the hermits and their things) seemed to have no idea on the subject. So we ended up going to Dolphin Pet Village. They were more experience at the subject. Now we have some of the things we will need. Last week, I went to a second Petco. There we got a cuttlebone, which is the bone of a fish. Now they look happy. Have a good day Hermit Crabs! Ch 2 Curious Crab The week before last week, my mom looked into my crabitat and found that one of my crabs had climbed one of my fake trees. It was on the top branch. Later, when I was changing to get ready for bed, the crab fell out of his branch. I hope he is okay. He’s definitely starting to look okay. How funny do you think that story is...

Henry's Pay-Per-View Reviews: ECW Heatwave 1998

As the world collectively loses it's mind over the coronavirus(this could be a fun intro to look back on in the future), the only sanity that can be found is in the ring. Let's take a look today at what is often considered ECW's finest outing, Heatwave '98. - Jokes aside, everyone should stay safe out there. I know it's easy to panic about these mass outbreaks, and I've certainly felt very nervous about everything I've heard and read over the past week. But I think we all need some fun in our lives right now, and this show is the epitome of distraction. - The opening contest is one of the highlights of the night, as Jerry Lynn takes on Justin Credible. Credible has an entire entourage in his corner, including Chastity, Jason and Nicole Bass, and their involvement in this match at times bordered on excessive. But the match begins to hit it's peak when Lynn puts Credible through a table with a hurricanrana, and it's all fantastic from...
