Henry's World

The format has changed again, as now I'll just sim all the games, since this game is kind of broken. However, your experience shouldn't change, as I'll still go in-depth on all of the games. Game 16 was the return home against the Florida Panthers. Higgins got 2 in the first period to hand Luongo the early lead. Henrik Sedin, Roy, and Malholtra all got goals in the second. Fleischmann got one back to make it 5-1. Boyes and Booth scored for the Canucks, and Mueller and Upshall scored for the Panthers to make it 7-3 the final. The Blackhawks proved tough in Rogers Arena, as early goals from Hamhuis and Daniel Sedin weren't enough to keep the game in regulation, and Chicago won it in the shootout. The final game of the homestand was against the Minnesota Wild. Mikku Koivu got one in the second, but Hamhuis' two goals in the third, plus Roy's empty netter, gave the Canucks faithful a 3-1 victory. So, we start out with bad news: Jason Garrison is out for a week or two, meaning Brett Lebda will now play. My new idea is to sim 3 games, and then play the fourth. Then I'll sim an extra 3 games. That will make the season faster, and I'll be able to play more seasons in the future. Game 9 was a return home against the Lightning. In the first period, both Derek Roy and Daniel Sedin scored for the Canucks. Pouliot got one for the Lightning, but was answered by Christopher Higgins. Burrows added two more in the third for a 5-1 win. Game 10 was a home redemption game against the Red Wings. David Booth got the first tally of the game in the first period for the lead. Hamhuis scored on the power play, but was answered by Datsyuk and Brunner, and the game was tied and went into overtime. We open this installment by making a trade, sending the NY Islanders our 2014 1st round pick, Andrew Ebbett, and Maxim Lapierre, for Brad Boyes and Eric Boulton. Brad Boyes will become our 3rd line sniper, meaning we send down Nicklas Jensen, who has underperformed to start the year. Game 5 is the second of a back-to-back, as we visit Columbus. It was a defensive battle for much of the game, as Nikita Nikitin recorded the first marker for the Blue Jackets with 8 minutes left in the game. Sergei Bobrovsky held it there, recording a 25-shot shutout. Game 6 looked to be a tough match-up, as we traveled to Detroit to take on the Red Wings. Mikael Samuelsson scored early, just 10 minutes into the game to give the Red Wings the lead. Jonathan Ericsson would score as well with 3 minutes left in the first, as Luongo was pulled. The regular season is ready to get underway, as the Canucks would go first to Calgary to open the season. Vancouver got on the board first on a Ryan Kesler breakaway goal. Solid defensive work from the 'Nucks kept the score there until Alexander Burrows scored the empty netter with 15.8 seconds left. Roberto Luongo faced only 13 shots and the Canucks had their first win on the year. Game 2 was the home opener, as the Canucks got set to host the Edmonton Oilers. The Canucks got a quick one, as a Daniel Sedin tip in on Alexander Edler shot gave them the lead just a minute and 27 seconds in. The Oilers came back quickly to score as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins sniped one home just four minutes later on the power play. Another powerplay goal in the second period came as Taylor Hall put home a rebound goal. However, Derek Roy was there for the Canucks, putting home the tying goal with 5 minutes left in the second. The NHL season opened up in the Pre-Season, and the Canucks were ready to go. Before the preseason started however, I made my first move on the job, trading away veteran d-man Kevin Bieksa(84 overall) and 2013 first and third round picks to the NY Rangers for offensive d-man John Moore(74 overall), a young guy with a great shot. A goalie battle will take place in preseason for the back up to Roberto Luongo, as Johan Hedberg will take games 1 and 3, and Eddie Lack will take 2 and 4. The Canucks fell in Game 1, 1-0, as Avalanche goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere posted a 31-shot shutout. Game 2 was also squandered away as the Canucks lost 2-1, as Jordan Schroeder's 1st period goal went for naught in the first preseason home game. Game 3 was an overtime thriller as Henrik Sedin and Niklas Jensen both scored, but a fluke goal from the Oilers resulted in a 3-2 loss in OT.
