We open this installment by making a trade, sending the NY Islanders our 2014 1st round pick, Andrew Ebbett, and Maxim Lapierre, for Brad Boyes and Eric Boulton. Brad Boyes will become our 3rd line sniper, meaning we send down Nicklas Jensen, who has underperformed to start the year.
Game 5 is the second of a back-to-back, as we visit Columbus. It was a defensive battle for much of the game, as Nikita Nikitin recorded the first marker for the Blue Jackets with 8 minutes left in the game. Sergei Bobrovsky held it there, recording a 25-shot shutout.
Game 6 looked to be a tough match-up, as we traveled to Detroit to take on the Red Wings. Mikael Samuelsson scored early, just 10 minutes into the game to give the Red Wings the lead. Jonathan Ericsson would score as well with 3 minutes left in the first, as Luongo was pulled. Brendan Smith scored in the second to make it a 3-0 lead for the Red Wings. A Kesler turnover led to another Red Wings goal, as Henrik Zetterburg scored. Stephen Weiss scored on the power play to make it 5-0 in the third. The rest of the goals were not recorded here, but the final score was 8-0, as the Canucks were shutout again, and Canuck fans began to call for changes.
Game 7 was against the Penguins in Pittsburgh, as the schedule was getting any easier. James Neal scored a powerplay marker early in the first, and Canuck fans began to tear their hair out, as the Canucks' scoring woes continued. Brendan Morrow scored in the third, but was answered by Derek Roy late in the third, as the Canucks finally scored. Unfortunately, the Canucks could not come back as they lost 2-1.
Game 8 was yet another road game, as the Canucks traveled to Dallas to take on the Stars. Jamie Benn scored on a breakaway goal early in the second to get the lead. The rest of the game was unable to be recorded, but the Canucks lost 3-2.
Thanks for stopping by! I have a new idea for getting through the season, I'll implement next installment. Canucks record: 3-4-1
