Prime Time Players vs The Miz and Damien Mizdow
Prior to defending their titles against the New Day at Judgment Day, the Prime Time Players took on The Miz and Mizdow here on Smackdown. It was pretty clear that Miz and Mizdow weren't a great pair, as they struggled to communicate. Although Mizdow had the crowd's support, he clearly didn't have Miz's favor, as the Awesome One hung him out to dry several times. Titus decimated Mizdow with a Clash of the Titus as Miz just watched as the referee counted to 3. After the match, Miz fired Mizdow, saying he had no use for a stunt double who couldn't hold his own.
Winners: Prime Time Players
Dolph Ziggler vs Bad News Barrett
The third spot in the fatal 4-way at Judgment Day was on the line as Dolph Ziggler took on Bad News Barrett. It was a very competitive match up between two guys yet to get their big break in Universe Mode. Barrett scored some near falls, but Ziggler survived and fought back. Dolph set up for the Zig Zag, only for Barrett to counter into a Bull Hammer, but Ziggler kicked out again. Ziggler came close to finishing the match off a succession of elbow drops, but Barrett changed the match with a Winds of Change on the floor. Back in the ring, Barrett showed his strength, lifting Ziggler into a second Bull Hammer, only to see Dolph kick out again. Barrett tried to steal a pinfall, using the ropes for leverage, but the ref managed to stop the cheating. Ziggler caught Barrett by surprise, locking him in a sleeper hold, and despite Barrett's best effort, he couldn't find a way out and was forced to tap out. Ziggler joins Kevin Owens and Batista, with one more spot in the fatal 4-way yet to be decided.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
Ivelisse vs Cameron
A lot of Smackdown fans were very excited about the debut of Ivelisse, and she definitely delivered. Ivelisse displayed her incredible arsenal of moves, landing big kicks and flying through the air. Cameron was no slouch, and fought back, but that just made Ivelisse more and more angry. Eventually, the newest woman on Smackdown picked up the win with a Scorpion Kick. With the triple threat already set for the Women's World Title, it'll be interesting to see what role Ivelisse plays on Smackdown.
Winner: Ivelisse
Kurt Angle vs Austin Aries
The final member of the 4-way at Judgment Day was to be decided in this match, as the returning Kurt Angle took on Austin Aries. It was obvious that Aries had the speed advantage, outpacing the Olympic Hero at almost every turn. Angle is one of the toughest men in the world, but Aries really made him suffer. Despite his obvious advantage, Aries struggled to put Angle away, and Kurt fought back into the match. A reversal of a suplex led right into a big Angle Slam that wasn't quite enough to punch Angle's ticket to Judgment Day. Aries wasn't out of it, hitting a spree of suplexes before heading to the top rope and connecting with a 450 splash, and it was Angle's turn to kick out. Angle then connected on a few suplexes of his own, and finished it off with a second Angle Slam, and was astounded when Aries kicked out again. Aries went for a Discus Elbow, and Angle caught his arm, shaking his head before delivering a third devastating Angle Slam. However, Aries found the bottom rope, and the match continued. Aries then conneccted on the Discus Elbow, but Angle somehow kicked out. Finally, Aries downed Angle with the Brainbuster, as the match came to an end at long last. A match of the year candidate sees Aries become the final man to qualify for the fatal 4-way at Judgment Day.
Winner: Austin Aries
The Rock and Dean Ambrose vs Randy Orton and Booker T- Champions vs Challengers
Orton and The Rock started the mach out, and immediately brawled to the outside, neither man giving an inch. Booker and Dean then tagged in, and they started brawling on the outside. Rock and Dean clearly established that Booker was the weaker man, isolating the master of the Spinaroonie. A distraction from Orton turned the tide in the challenger's favor, and allowed the Viper to tag into the match. Some excellent tagging allowed Booker to hit his Axe Kick on the WWE Champion, but Ambrose stopped the pinfall. Ambrose tagged in, and Orton struck with the RKO, but this time Rock was there to save the match. The Rock then made a statement, connecting with the Rock Bottom, but Orton made a statement of his own, kicking out at 2. The match continued, with all four men tagging in an out. Orton made the mistake of tagging out while still fresh, and it counted, as Ambrose put Booker away with the Dirty Deeds, earning a big momentum boost heading into their Iron Man match.
Winners: The Rock and Dean Ambrose
I hope you've enjoyed this episode of Universe Mode. On Saturday, there will be another episode of Main Event, and then a break of about a week before Judgment Day is posted on the 22nd. Hopefully you're as psyched for Smackdown's first pay-per-view as I am. Until then, take care!
