Tyler Breeze(c) vs Rey Mysterio- Light Heavyweight Title Match
NXT's Tyler Breeze traveled to Smackdown for this week, putting the Light Heavyweight Title on the line against Smackdown's Rey Mysterio. Both men went in with something to prove: Breeze, that he could defeat the absolute best, and Mysterio wanted to finally win the big one. It was Breeze who dominated the majority of the match, nearly finishing it off several times. A counter of the Supermodel Kick would be the difference, as Mysterio would then connect on a 619 for the victory and his first Universe Mode title.
Winner and the NEW Light Heavyweight Champion: Rey Mysterio
Nikki Bella(c) vs Natalya- Women's World Title Match
There was nowhere to run for the Women's World Champion this week, as she and Natalya finally faced off with the belt on the line. Teddy Long made sure of this, with the stipulation being that if Nikki was counted out or diqualified, she would have to vacate her title. Nikki, wanting to be sure of victory, jumped Natalya during her entrance and the fight was on. The champion dominated the match once again, as Nikki continued to exploit the advantage she created with her sneak attack. Try as she might however, she couldn't put Natalya away, even with her finishing maneuver, the Rack Attack. Natalya showed her strength and resilience, and locked Nikki in the Sharpshooter. Nikki got to the ropes to break the hold, but Natalya locked her in the submission hold, and the champion was forced to tap out. Natalya, after months of chasing the belt, had finally captured the Women's World Title, as Smackdown crowned another new champion.
Winner and the NEW Women's World Champion: Natalya
New Day(c) vs Prime Time Players- WWE Tag Team Title Match
With Xavier Woods at ringside, the champions seemed to have the advantage over the challengers in a Judgment Day rematch. The former champions did well early on, with Titus running over all three members of The New Day. A turning point came when Darren Young demanded to tag in, and got his wish. Darren didn't seem to know what he was doing, as he was frequently caught in the wrong corner. Kofi and Big E took advantage, dominating Young, not allowing him to tag out. One Midnight Hour later and Darren Young was history.
Winners and still WWE Tag Team Champions: The New Day
Dean Ambrose(c) vs Dolph Ziggler- United States Title Match
Dolph Ziggler displayed a nasty side in his victory over Daniel Bryan to earn this opportunity, and showed it again, jumping Ambrose before the match could begin. Dolph administered a vicious beatdown, hitting Ambrose with a steel chair over and over again, before delivering a Zig Zag to Ambrose on the chair. It took several officials to restrain Ziggler, while Ambrose was helped to the back. Needless to say, the match never started. Dolph may well have cost himself a shot at the United States Title, but he didn't really seem to care.
Cesaro vs Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens returned from his suspension this week, as Smackdown GM Teddy Long declared that KO had learned his lesson. Owens' first match since Judgment Day wasn't going to be an easy one, as he took on King of the Ring winner Cesaro. Neither man wanted to lose, and it was all out warfare from the moment the bell rang. Kevin Owens was determined to show off his arsenal, hitting several high flying moves, while Cesaro showed off his strength, hitting a variety of suplexes. Owens hit a big cannonball, and looked to follow up with a Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Cesaro countered, and then got the crowd going with a Giant Swing. Owens kicked out of the move, and a subsequent two more uppercuts, as Cesaro just couldn't put him away. Finally, the King of the Ring pulled out his biggest move, the Neutralizer, to keep the Prizefighter down.
Winner: Cesaro
Cesaro continues his roll, and if I was Randy Orton or Batista, I'd be getting in the best shape of my life. No matter who walks out of The Great American Bash as champion, Cesaro appears to be the toughest test at Summerslam.
