Monday Night Raw
April 10th, 2017
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Alberto Del Rio vs Finn Balor
Finn Balor made his return to singles action to open up Raw, facing tough opposition in the Mexican Aristocrat Alberto Del Rio. Although Del Rio kept pace for a little while, Balor unleashed with his volley of offense, nailing a corner dropkick before delivering a Coup de Grace.
Winner: Finn Balor
The Revival vs The New Day- #1 Contender's Match for the Raw Tag Team Championships
Shane McMahon lifted the ban on The Revival, allowing them to compete for the titles here on Raw. However, they were still forced to try to earn their spot, as they faced the New Day, with the winners taking on American Alpha at Raw's exclusive pay-per-view, Payback. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder took this match a little lightly, feeling that they were the far superior team. They were proved very, very wrong, as Kofi and Big E controlled this match. They worked down Dawson, using some of The Revival's own tricks, and scored the big win with a Midnight Hour.
Winners: The New Day
Paige Promo
The Anti-Diva made her first address as a member of the Raw roster, stating that she is "the best athlete, male or female, in the world today". Paige set her sights on the Raw Women's Championship, the only belt she hasn't held in Universe Mode, and issued an open challenge to any woman in the locker room to face her next week.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Sheamus
The King of Strong Style was in for a tough test in his Raw debut, as he faced the returning Sheamus, who had been traded for Jack Swagger a few days ago. The Celtic Warrior has been in a slump for a few months now, and was looking for any sort of momentum. These two men went back and forth early on, exchanging strikes. It was then that Rusev, who we haven't seen since January, made his way to the ring. The Bulgarian Brute had his sights set on the King of Strong Style, but his appearance didn't faze Nakamura, who connected on a Kinshasa for the win.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura
Chris Jericho(c) vs ???- United States Championship Match
The man who would answer Y2J's open challenge would be a true American hero, none other than the returning Kurt Angle! Angle made his return to Monday Night Raw in an attempt to capture the United States Championship, and he looked very, very good. The Olympic Hero was in complete control from the very beginning, and Jericho was left searching for answers. Angle connected on a series of german suplexes, looking to end from the top rope. Kurt Angle was thinking moonsault, but the champion still had a little bit left in the tank, and struck with a vicious Codebreaker. This incredible move got the three count, and by hook or by crook, Chris Jericho is still champion.
Winner and still United States Champion: Chris Jericho
Samoa Joe(c) vs Mark Henry- Universal Championship Match
This match had all the makings of a massive collision, as the World's Strongest Man, already owning one win over the champion, took on the Samoan Submission Machine. In shocking fashion, Samoa Joe lived up to his nickname in a big way. The two locked up, before Joe took control with a right hand and locked in the Coquina Clutch. In mere seconds, Mark Henry was forced to tap out, and it was all over. The legend of Samoa Joe grows, as makes his first title defense in dominant fashion.
Winner and still Universal Champion: Samoa Joe
Monday Night Raw will host it's first exclusive pay-per-view since September 2016 when the red brand hosts Payback, live on Sunday, April 30th. Who will be next to challenge Samoa Joe?
