Henry's Universe Mode #55: Smackdown

Tonight on Smackdown, the blue brand hosts one it's biggest shows of the year. After The Great American Bash was cancelled, all title matches have been moved to this show. That means four titles are on the line, so let's get to it.

The New Day(c) w/Xavier Woods vs Tyson Kidd and Cesaro- WWE Tag Team Title Match

The tag champs played on their man advantage, dominating the challengers. However, Xavier got a little too involved, causing him to be kicked from ringside. The action was much more even, with each team trading some nice offense. Kofi connected with a Trouble in Paradise, but wasn't able to put Tyson Kidd away. In an impressive show of strength that proved to be the turning point, Cesaro hit the Giant Swing on Big E. Kidd then tagged in and put Big E away with a Code Blue, as we crowned new tag team champions. Cesaro will now get the opportunity to become a dual champion when he challenges for the WWE Title in the main event of Summerslam.

Winners and the NEW WWE Tag Team Champions: Tyson Kidd and Cesaro

Natalya(c) vs Brie Bella- Women's World Title Match

Tyson Kidd became a tag team champ, and right afterward his wife Natalya put her title on the line against Brie Bella. Brie gave it her all, but Natalya simply dominated. An impressive display of power moves finished off with a bridging german suplex brought this title match to an abrupt end.

Winner and still Women's World Champion: Natalya

Dean Ambrose(c) vs Kevin Owens- United States Title Match

Kevin Owens looked to claim his first piece of gold in Universe Mode as he challenged Dean Ambrose for the United States Title. Ambrose got going early, getting a lot of offense in before Owens slowed the pace down. The challenger slowly picked apart the champion before connecting on a Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Ambrose had the willpower to kick out. Ambrose unleashed a volley of rights and lefts before dropping Owens with a Dirty Deeds, but Owens got his arm onto the bottom rope. The two then exchanged counters in the middle of the ring, as Ambrose countered the Powerbomb and Owens countered the Dirty Deeds. It was Ambrose who won the battle, though, rolling up KO with a schoolboy to retain his belt.

After the match, Dolph Ziggler made his first appearance since his assault of Ambrose a few weeks ago. He hit superkicks on both Owens and Ambrose, and posed with the US Title as Smackdown GM Teddy Long tried to restore order.

Winner and still United States Champion: Dean Ambrose

Randy Orton(c) vs Batista- WWE Title Match, Last Man Standing

These two men were ready to tear each other apart, and the match opened with a ferocious brawl on the outside of the ring. Orton bashed Batista with a steel chair, and the Animal matched his intensity by smashing him in the head with the steel steps. Orton took things to another level, suplexing Batista through a table, nearly crippling the challenger. After Batista decimated Orton with a spinebuster onto the steel ramp, the Animal seemed to be closing in on the WWE Title. The Viper turned the tide, and put Batista through another table with a big DDT. Orton was nearly knocked out of his boots with a tremendous Spear from Batista, and the champ took a nasty landing on a steel chair. Batista set up for the finishing blow, the Batista Bomb, but Orton took the easy way out, nailing Batista with a low blow. He sent The Animal to the outside, before ending it with a RKO through the announce table. Batista was unable to answer the ten count, and Orton retained his title once more.

After the match, new Tag Team champion and King of the Ring winner Cesaro made his way to the ring, staring down the WWE Champion. Smackdown GM Teddy Long made it official, as Cesaro will challenge for Smackdown's biggest prize in the main event of Summerslam, as he and Orton go head to head. It appears the Age of Orton has met it's biggest challenge yet.

Winner and still WWE Champion: Randy Orton

There it is folks, Randy Orton vs Cesaro in the main event of Summerslam for the WWE Title. I can't wait, as that will be an epic collision. See you on Raw.

American Dad "Twinanigans" Review

It's been a while since the last Steve and Roger episode, and this week reminded me why that's such a classic American Dad pairing. This is a genuinely fun episode, filled with some great one liners and even a great callback to the show's past. "Twinanigans" centers around the heretofore unmentioned acting careers of Roger and Steve, who twinned it up as the Smith Brothers. I'm not going to question whether this backstory actually makes sense to the overall timeline; no one watches American Dad for continuity. Steve had to give up acting to attend kindergarten, and wants to give Roger a second chance at greatness. The two head to auditions, where Steve impresses and Roger blows it. It's here the episode kinda misfires, as it's never made abundantly clear why Roger struggles so much at acting. Is he just trying too hard, does he have some form of stage fright, does he not even know what acting is? This part of the story is just never explained, w...

Henry's Pay-Per-View Reviews: ECW Heatwave 1998

As the world collectively loses it's mind over the coronavirus(this could be a fun intro to look back on in the future), the only sanity that can be found is in the ring. Let's take a look today at what is often considered ECW's finest outing, Heatwave '98. - Jokes aside, everyone should stay safe out there. I know it's easy to panic about these mass outbreaks, and I've certainly felt very nervous about everything I've heard and read over the past week. But I think we all need some fun in our lives right now, and this show is the epitome of distraction. - The opening contest is one of the highlights of the night, as Jerry Lynn takes on Justin Credible. Credible has an entire entourage in his corner, including Chastity, Jason and Nicole Bass, and their involvement in this match at times bordered on excessive. But the match begins to hit it's peak when Lynn puts Credible through a table with a hurricanrana, and it's all fantastic from...

Curious Crab

One Monday night my mom looked into my crabitat and found that a crab had climbed into one of my fake trees. It was in the top branch. I looked in later, and found that the crab had fallen out of the tree. I hope he is okay. What a day!
