NXT Takeover: Unstoppable

Paige(c) vs Bayley- NXT Women's Title Match
We opened the show strong, with the NXT Women's Title on the line. Bayley entered the NXT Arena ready to end the historic run of champion Paige, but she wasn't alone, as she was joined by her best friend, Sasha Banks, who lost to Paige a few weeks ago. Both women went back and forth to start the contest, knowing each other very well. They traded near falls on big maneuvers, Bayley kicking out of the RamPaige and Paige out of the Bayley to Belly. Paige began to dominate the match, the champion completely taking control. After Bayley showed she had a legitimate chance of winning the match, Paige decided to leave, but was stopped by Sasha at ringside. Paige went back into the ring, and was caught with a second Bayley to Belly, and the Hugster became a two-time champion. After the match, the two friends hugged it out to the delight of the crowd.

EC3(c) vs Baron Corbin- NXT Television Title Match
EC3's opponent for this title defense was the former champ, the Lone Wolf Baron Corbin. Corbin was obviously frustrated at his lack of involvement in NXT, and it showed. Corbin used his anger well early on, dominating the unbeaten champion. However, after Corbin couldn't finish off EC3 with a End of Days, he lost his head committing a fatal error by climbing to the top rope. EC3 brought him down with a superplex and finished it off with a One Percenter.
After the match, Corbin grabbed a microphone. He said that the NXT fans obviously didn't deserve a talent such as his. As of now, Baron Corbin has resigned from NXT.

American Alpha(c) vs The Balor Club- NXT Tag Team Title Match
Anderson and Gallows were out to prove that the Balor Club is still in control of NXT, and wanted the tag titles to prove it. Anderson and Gallows just had that special something, dominating the match. They isolated Chad Gable, and took Gable apart in their corner. Gable tried his best to fight back, but when Anderson connected with a TKO, it was all over. The Balor Club has gold once more, and achieved it in dominant fashion.

Hideo Itami vs Shinsuke Nakamura
Both men began hot, each trading moves as the fans roared their approval. The King of Strong Style used his knees and elbows to make a big difference, opening Hideo up with a brutal knee to the face. Hideo refused to be kept down, connecting on a Shotgun Kick for a narrow near fall. Hideo was gushing blood, though, and Shinsuke quickly capitalized, showing a brutal side as he continued to to cover Hideo's face with the red stuff. Shinsuke hit one Kinshasa, then another, but still refused to pin Hideo, preferring to use his elbows to inflict more damage. Finally, the ref stepped in, calling off the assault and declaring Shinsuke the winner. The King of Strong Style prevailed, but he did not wrestle with honor on this night.

Sami Zayn(c) vs ???- NXT Title Match
The champ would not have to wait long to find out his new challenger, as NXT GM William Regal came out to announce AJ Styles' replacement- Samoa Joe! The Samoa Submission Machine made his way down to the ring, healed up and ready for his big opportunity.
Champion and challenger went right at it from the opening bell, hitting each other with everything in their arsenal. Zayn got the advantage, out-wrestling Joe, who then slowed the match back down to his pace. Joe controlled the NXT Champion, trading holds and wearing down each and every body part. Joe then went for the jugular, but Zayn countered the Muscle Buster. Sami then took to the skies to get the offensive advantage, and caught Joe with a Blue Thunder Bomb, which wasn't quite enough. Joe slowed the match down again, and try as he might, Sami couldn't get back into it. The end came suddenly, when Sami whiffed on a swanton bomb and Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch. The deadliest move in all of wrestling claimed another victim, as Sami passed out and the Samoa Submission Machine became the new NXT Champion. A short and brutal match brought a sudden end to the Sami's title reign.

Three titles changed hands, proving that no matter how unstoppable a champion appears to be, it takes one night to bring it all crashing down. What's next for NXT? There will be a major shake up next week for Universe Mode, with NXT at the heart of it.
