Henry's Universe Mode #195: NXT

With Takeover: Brooklyn up next, both members of the main event are in action. Aleister Black goes one on one with Drew McIntyre, while Hideo Itami faces a vindictive Kassius Ohno. Also, Roderick Strong faces Cedric Alexander and the Authors of Pain face Sanity.

Aleister Black vs Drew McIntyre

The number one contender wasted no time getting this match going, unloading on Drew McIntyre from the moment the bell rung. The impressive kicks and strikes of Aleister Black kept McIntyre on the ropes throughout, though the Sinister Scotsman did prove his merit when he kicked out of a Black Mass. A second, though, put him down for the count.

Winner: Aleister Black

Sanity vs Authors of Pain

This was perhaps the most competitive Authors of Pain match we've seen yet, as Eric Young and Killian Dain showed that they could hang with the champs. Akam and Rezar continued to get frustrated as they couldn't put the match away, and finally Paul Ellering slid two chairs into the ring. The two monsters went wild with the steel, laying out Sanity. Although technically the champions have suffered their first loss by DQ, they once again stood tall.

Winners: Sanity

Roderick Strong vs Cedric Alexander

Although Cedric Alexander has shown just how good he can be, he ran into a very motivated Roderick Strong. With a Cruiserweight Championship match against Neville approaching, the Messiah of the Backbreaker was in peak form. An assortment of backbreakers set up Cedric for the End of Heartache, and for good measure, the Strong Hold.

Winner: Roderick Strong

Roderick Strong Promo

A victorious Roderick Strong then got on the mic. For years, he's had to fight for everything he's gotten. Nobody ever gave him a chance, nobody ever thought he could succeed. But he is here now, on the biggest stage, and at Takeover: Brooklyn, he will be the new Cruiserweight Champion. Who is Roderick Strong? You can simply refer to him as Mr. NXT.

Kassius Ohno vs Hideo Itami

This was a big main event with two top talents involved, but for Kassius Ohno, this would not be a sporting competition. This was about revenge for a man who felt he'd been wronged, and he was all over the NXT Champion right away. For the most part, this was a dominant performance for Ohno, as he unloaded on Hideo Itami. Itami could only just stay in the match was his strikes, but it wasn't looking good for Hideo. He made a big mistake when he tried to take a chance and paid for it, leaping off the top rope into a big elbow. Still, he survived. Kassius Ohno set up for another elbow, but Itami got out of the way, connecting with the Busaiku Knee. That wasn't enough, though, as Ohno still survived. The Knockout Artist began to look to finish the match, but Itami just had enough left in him to roll up Ohno, getting his feet on the ropes to steal the win.

Winner: Hideo Itami

I hope you've enjoyed the final episode of NXT in Henry's Universe Mode history. Next Saturday will be Takeover: Brooklyn, and then all three parts of Summerslam on Sunday. If you're interested in seeing the cards for those events, they will be posted on my Twitter account @htk0215. This has been a fun ride throughout, let's finish strong.

American Dad "Twinanigans" Review

It's been a while since the last Steve and Roger episode, and this week reminded me why that's such a classic American Dad pairing. This is a genuinely fun episode, filled with some great one liners and even a great callback to the show's past. "Twinanigans" centers around the heretofore unmentioned acting careers of Roger and Steve, who twinned it up as the Smith Brothers. I'm not going to question whether this backstory actually makes sense to the overall timeline; no one watches American Dad for continuity. Steve had to give up acting to attend kindergarten, and wants to give Roger a second chance at greatness. The two head to auditions, where Steve impresses and Roger blows it. It's here the episode kinda misfires, as it's never made abundantly clear why Roger struggles so much at acting. Is he just trying too hard, does he have some form of stage fright, does he not even know what acting is? This part of the story is just never explained, w...

Henry's Pay-Per-View Reviews: ECW Heatwave 1998

As the world collectively loses it's mind over the coronavirus(this could be a fun intro to look back on in the future), the only sanity that can be found is in the ring. Let's take a look today at what is often considered ECW's finest outing, Heatwave '98. - Jokes aside, everyone should stay safe out there. I know it's easy to panic about these mass outbreaks, and I've certainly felt very nervous about everything I've heard and read over the past week. But I think we all need some fun in our lives right now, and this show is the epitome of distraction. - The opening contest is one of the highlights of the night, as Jerry Lynn takes on Justin Credible. Credible has an entire entourage in his corner, including Chastity, Jason and Nicole Bass, and their involvement in this match at times bordered on excessive. But the match begins to hit it's peak when Lynn puts Credible through a table with a hurricanrana, and it's all fantastic from...

Curious Crab

One Monday night my mom looked into my crabitat and found that a crab had climbed into one of my fake trees. It was in the top branch. I looked in later, and found that the crab had fallen out of the tree. I hope he is okay. What a day!
