The cocky and arrogant Bobby Roode made a statement last week by interrupting Daniel Bryan and Edge, but he may pay for it tonight, as he faces Bryan in SmackDown's main event. In the other featured match of the night, Asuka, Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks battle it out for the right to face Nia Jax at Backlash. But with how dominant the champion has been, will the winner of this battle of former champions even stand a chance? Plus, after being attacked by Samoa Joe last week, Drew McIntyre is ready for a fight, and will call out Joe to begin tonight's show.

Drew McIntyre Promo
The WWE Champion was not in a good mood after falling prey to the Coquina Clutch last week, and wasted no time in calling out Samoa Joe to face him in the ring. Joe had other ideas, remaining backstage to issue his statement. Simply put, Samoa Joe is an intelligent man, and plans on fighting Drew McIntyre on his own time. That time will be Backlash, because Joe has confirmed that he will be using the world title shot he earned at WrestleMania to challenge McIntyre. Joe proved last week that he can take out McIntyre any time he wants, so there's really no point in any more fighting. Since he isn't booked tonight, Joe just walked right out of the building, leaving a frustrated McIntyre completely at a loss.
The Wyatt Family vs Local Talent
Two local Mississippi youngsters by the names of Jackie Rowe and Royle Cooke got their shot at taking on Erick Rowan and Luke Harper, and like last week, it didn't go well. It was Cooke who took most of the punishment, and was put away easily with The Bludgeoning. After the match, Bray Wyatt didn't seem particularly impressed with the level of talent his disciples have faced the past two weeks.
Winners: The Wyatt Family
Ricochet vs Titus O'Neil
Ricochet defeated Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles in a non-title match a little over a month ago, a loss which Styles obviously hasn't forgotten, as he came down to ringside to observe the action. The Future of Flight was in prime form tonight, as even the impressive power of Titus O'Neil did little to slow Ricochet down. In the end, Titus was defeated by the awe-inspiring 630 senton.
Winner: Ricochet
Post-Match
AJ Styles was apparently at ringside for more than observation, as he charged into the ring, looking to launch a sneak attack on Ricochet. The One and Only easily avoided, however, dumping Styles to the floor, bouncing off the ropes to set up a suicide dive. But instead to launching himself at AJ, Ricochet landed on his feet, sending a flustered Styles retreating to the back.
Tye Dillinger Promo
The Perfect Ten was all smiles, soaking up the "10" chants from the crowd. Before he could address last week's win, he was interrupted by Tyler Breeze. Prince Pretty wants to get back to the top of SmackDown, and he knows that he needs help. So he's offering for Tye Dillinger to be his tag team partner! It seems like a perfect fit- even their names sound similar. But Dillinger turned down the offer, wanting to stay on his own, leaving a furious Breeze in the ring.
Asuka vs Charlotte Flair vs Sasha Banks- #1 Contender's Match
This was a huge performance from Asuka, who's confidence has to be shaken after high profile losses at Summerslam and WrestleMania. The Empress of Tomorrow used her incredible array of strikes to take the fight to two impressive performers in Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair. In the end, Asuka made a statement, nearly kicking Sasha's head off before forcing Charlotte to tap out to the Asuka Lock.
Winner: Asuka
Bobby Roode vs Daniel Bryan
Bobby Roode has shown some excellent wrestling ability down in NXT, and he embraced the spotlight in the bright lights of the main event of SmackDown Live. Roode delivered an outstanding performance, staying one step ahead of Bryan for the bulk of the match, cutting off any attempts at a comeback. The Glorious One got two near falls off of two Spinebusters, and Bryan traded back with some stiff kicks before throwing caution to the wind, looking for a suicide dive. Although he connected, this proved to be a huge mistake, as the move took a lot out of Bryan. The American Dragon was in trouble, and Roode capitalized, hitting the Glorious DDT! 1................2............but not 3, as Bryan just barely got his shoulder up! Bobby Roode came so close to one of the biggest wins of his career, and it quickly unraveled. Bryan put together a rally like only he can, finally connecting with the running knee to pick up the hard earned win. The "Yes!" movement was back in full force to close SmackDown Live as Daniel Bryan celebrated.
Winner: Daniel Bryan
