Henry's Universe Mode(Season 5): Royal Rumble 2020 (Part 1)

The Royal Rumble is always on of the biggest nights of the year here in Universe Mode, and tonight is certainly no different. Who will be the first to win this brand new contest? The clock is ticking.... Universe Mode Royal Rumble January 26th, 2020 Location: Phoenix, AZ Royal Rumble 2020 Theme Song- "Gladiator"- Zayde Wolf Entrant #1- Molly Holly Entrant #2- Alexa Bliss A very intriguing duo to open the first Women's Royal Rumble, as we kicked things off with a surprise entrant in Molly Holly. The double-tough Holly was making her Universe Mode debut, and would square off two-time SmackDown Women's Champion Alexa Bliss, here representing Raw. Molly got off to a good start with a bodyslam on Alexa, though Bliss w...

Henry's Universe Mode(Season 5) NXT Takeover: Phoenix

Tonight, it may well be judgment day for Tommaso Ciampa and his reign as NXT Champion, as he faces the seemingly unstoppable and damn near unbeatable Brian Cage in our main event. How can Ciampa possibly hope to defeat a man who took a steel chair shot to the head without even flinching? To add on to the woes for the champ, his protege, perhaps the only man in NXT who could stand toe to toe with Cage, Keith Lee, must wrestle a barbaric Last Man Standing match against former best friend Matt Riddle. Those two matches will go on back to back, likely making it impossible for Lee to offer any assistance to Ciampa in the main event. Is Phoenix the end of the line for the duo that has dominated this brand for almost half a year? Universe Mode NXT Takeover: Phoenix January 25th, 2020 Location: Phoenix, AZ Buddy Murphy(c) vs Pentagon Jr - Cruiserweight Championship Match The Cruiserweight belt has seen plenty of controversy and tons of title changes over the past year and...

American Dad "Brave N00b World" Review

After last week's episode, which could be best described as..................................existing, I was definitely a little more interested for AD to shift to a world I'm much more familiar with. Even from the episode's title, you can see the emphasis on video games, particularly Overwatch, coming, but I don't think anyone was prepared for where the writers decided to take this one. "Brave N00b World" is easily one of the most predictable episodes of American Dad I've ever seen, at least in it's first half. Stan is ignoring Steve for work, Bullock sends Stan and the rest of the team is China to assassinate a North Korean general by playing Overwatch, they eat lots of ice cream instead, all very ho-hum kind of stuff. I thought the episode did veer a little too close to the line of just flat out being an advertisement for Overwatch at times, but luckily they kept the focus on the tension between Stan and Steve instead. But focus is the bigges...

Blog Update- May 2020

These blog updates are becoming a monthly occurrence at this point, though I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I generally go through projects on this blog quite quickly, so I could've probably done a near-monthly update for every year of this blog's history if I really wanted to. As always, I've got a couple different things to talk about, so let's get started. First of all, The New World. I thought that series had plenty of potential, but it's pretty obvious to see that it's not really catching on.Views for the first four posts have not been great, though that matters less than the fact that I'm simply not enjoying making it. I think part of the issue is that it's a very visual series, as seeing these new teams in actual games looks extremely cool, and I just can't capture that feeling in written form. But the biggest problem is the AI, who have absolutely no clue how to operate any of those teams. I could go into further det...

American Dad "Tapped Out" Review

I......................don't know what to say. I've barely even prepared any emotions about this episode, let alone words. Let's just review it, I guess. Well, that was one of the strangest half-hours of my life. "Tapped Out" is an episode of American Dad so f***ed up that all I need to do is just describe the plot summary to you to make you feel like vomiting. It turns out that Francine has been secretly feeding Steve breast-milk his entire life, for reasons that are never explained. I guess she just thought it was fun. Steve is disgusted when he first finds out, but when Francine sabotages his orange juice, he becomes convinced that he still needs the stuff. He then gets obsessed with it and I guess just completely regresses back to being a literal baby, and the two are ostracized when Steve is caught suckling Francine in public. What is my life? What awful decisions have led me down this path, where I have to type these words? Anyway, Francine eventually...

NBA 2k19: The New World (Hollywood North)

With only one team in the playoffs, we will be covering the Barons entire postseason run in this post, in addition to the offseason for all six teams. How will Baltimore fare against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks? It's time to find out. First Round Game 1 was pretty close, but hinged on key turnovers. Giannis had 7 steals, while bench mates David Nwaba and Tyler Johnson for Baltimore each turned the ball over 4 times, leading to a 15 point Milwaukee win. Game 2 was even more competitive, with Tyreke Evans posting 27 points for Baltimore and Jeremy Lin chipped in 19. But unfortunately for the Barons, Eric Bledsoe exploded for 19 points and hit 5 threes, as the Bucks narrowly edged out a Game 2 victory. Game 3 was defined by offensive struggles for the Barons, as big man Eric Moreland turned the ball over 5 times and Tyreke Evans went 4-12 from the floor and fouled out. Giannis and Khris Middleton combined for 36, and the Bucks took a 9 point win in Baltimore. With the...

NBA 2k19: The New World (Blasting Off)

We begin the first year for our six expansion teams, here in 2018, where I was pleasantly surprised by what our teams accomplished. I expected to have the six worst records in the league, just competing for draft picks, and while a couple of these teams did struggle, several others provided a complete shock to the establishment of the NBA. Let's take a look. (Henry's Note- this series will differ from The New Millennium, since I'm just focused on our teams rather than the entire league. You may hear something about what's going on league-wise from time to time if it's relevant, but I will remain laser focused on just these teams. Also, this breakdown will begin with the worst team of the six, and go up from there). San Diego Surf Record: (26-56, 6th in Pacific Division, 18th in Western Conference) It was a rough opening year for the Surf, who only avoided being the worst team in the league thanks to the hapless New York Knicks, who won just 19 games....

American Dad "A Starboy is Born" Review

AD is really not a show that deals in celebrity guests too often, and though somewhat notable voice actors apart for a cameo or two, the show doesn't normally make a big deal out of it. That's why this episode comes completely out of left field, and I didn't really know what to think of it when I saw the episode description listed online. I do realize that I could be writing to a new audience this week, since you know damn well I'm using this episode's guest star for extra clicks, so I'm going to try a slightly different format this week that makes my review a little bit easier to read. For anyone that is new, just know this: I'm usually much grumpier. So yeah, The Weeknd. I've heard a couple of his songs before, I know he's done one or two WWE pay-per-view themes, which technically makes this a crossover episode. You do need kinda need to understand his image in some part to enjoy "A Starboy is Born", as this episode is completely c...

NBA 2k19: The New World (Expansion)

As mentioned at the end of the last post, the other 30 NBA teams were allowed to protect 10 members of their roster, leaving our new expansion franchises with slim pickings to build their new rosters. I did this to make the early struggles as difficult as possible, to really simulate just how difficult building an expansion team is. After all, the last NBA expansion team was the Charlotte Bobcats in 2004, and they went 18-64, this is an extremely tough league to start from scratch in. Despite the lack of quality, the six rosters that were drafted do have some recognizable names and interesting storylines, and I think it will be quite cool to follow along from the very start, as new records are established and these teams begin to develop an identity. Las Vegas Aces We start by taking a look at Floyd Goldworthy's hometown team and the first to gain expansion in this alternate universe, the Aces of Las Vegas. This team grabbed most of the biggest names, with a backcourt featur...

NBA 2k19: The New World (Introduction)

In April of last year, I launched what proved to be what of my favorite projects ever, The New Millennium, a long term, grand scale simulation, covering an entirely new reality of basketball in NBA 2k19. That series would spill over into my second blog , and ran for 66 episodes, crowning many new legends and reinvigorating my interest in the sport. While I've searched a long time since to recapture the magic of that series, nothing has quite caught fire in the way The New Millennium did. And so, I think it's time to go back to where it all began. Ladies and gentlemen, Henry's World and NBA 2k19 present...........................The New World. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's October 16th, 2018. You may not know my name, you may have never gazed upon my face, but when all this is over, my legacy will be forever etched in the stars. For many years, I have been per...
