The Dog League: Week 8 Preview (2021 Season)

Leaping Girl and Tailwaggerz, each scoring over 170 points last week, combined to knock Bark Force off their perch atop the Dog League, giving the league it's fourth lead change of the year. (Reminder: the Dog League is a custom fantasy football league run on NFL.com)

Canine Comets

Record: (1-6, 8th Place)

The Comets just can't catch a break, as a little over 140 points was nowhere near enough to beat Tailwaggerz last week, dropping this expansion team firmly into last place. They do get a lifeline in the form of a potential Nick Chubb return, plus Diontae Johnson coming back from bye, and list both players as their top options at running back and receiver. They also add the top option on the waiver wire, Kenneth Gainwell, and will aim to start him at their flex spot, benching Jaylen Waddle. Their final move is to start the Bills defense over the Buccaneers.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Ridiculous Rascals)

QB Patrick Mahomes
RB Nick Chubb
RB Devontae Booker
WR Diontae Johnson
WR Chris Godwin
WR DK Metcalf
TE Travis Kelce
RB Kenneth Gainwell
K Younghoe Koo
DEF Buffalo Bills

Tug of War

Current Record: (2-5, 7th Place)

Tug of War suffered another loss last week, this time being edged out by Growlers while scoring the second-least amount of points in the league. With Miles Sanders and Saquon Barkley likely to be out this week, Tug of War dropped Odell Beckham to bring in Eli Mitchell, who gets the spot start as the RB2. Jarvis Landry remains in the starting lineup, bumping down to the flex, and Tug of War dropped Mason Crosby to add the Bears defense, who get the start over the Packers.

UPDATE: Miles Sanders has been placed in the reserve, allowing Tug of War to add Michael Carter, whom they will start over Jarvis Landry this week.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Tailwaggerz)

QB Tom Brady
RB Aaron Jones
RB Eli Mitchell
WR Amari Cooper
WR Chase Claypool
WR Tee Higgins
TE Mike Gesicki
RB Michael Carter
K Tyler Bass
DEF Chicago Bears

Growlers

Current Record: (2-5, 6th Place)

Growlers are in the best spot they've been in through the first two months of play, with Josh Allen, Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams, and Dalton Schultz all returning from bye, and coming off a 9 point win over Tug of War, a game that was won on Monday night by the Saints defense, who finished with 14 points. For this week, all four of the aforementioned players return to start, sending Derek Carr, Damien Harris, Allen Robinson, and Tyler Higbee packing for the bench. Growlers will start their Bengals defense in a sensational matchup against the Jets, leaving them without a single waiver move to make.

UPDATE: With Calvin Ridley inactive this week, Growlers have dropped Allen Robinson to add Russell Gage, who will start in Ridley's place.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Leaping Girl)

QB Josh Allen
RB Austin Ekeler
RB Cordarrelle Patterson
WR A.J. Brown
WR Mike Williams
WR Russell Gage
TE Dalton Schultz
RB Darrel Williams
K Matt Gay
DEF Cincinnati Bengals

Rare Woofs

Current Record: (4-3, 5th Place)

All the momentum Rare Woofs has built cratered last week, as Tyler Lockett, Mark Andrews, and the Panthers defense all disappointed in an embarrassing 114 point showing for Rare Woofs, leading to a loss to Rascal. This week, they get Stefon Diggs and Justin Jefferson back, which should provide a major boost, but lose Mark Andrews to his bye week, starting Noah Fant at tight end. Rare Woofs will also start the dynamic Khalil Herbert over Chuba Hubbard, and the Cowboys defense over the Panthers.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Bark Force)

QB Joe Burrow
RB Chuba Hubbard
RB Khalil Herbert
WR Stefon Diggs
WR Justin Jefferson
WR Deebo Samuel
TE Noah Fant
WR D.J. Moore
K Matt Prater
DEF Dallas Cowboys

Leaping Girl

Current Record: (4-3, 4th Place)

Emma finished 4 points short of 200 last week, a banner performance that knocked Bark Force out of first place, and showed just how dangerous her team can be when they get going. This week, she gets Ezekiel Elliott and her Steelers defense back, but may have to function without DeAndre Hopkins, with Michael Pittman positioned as his backup if necessary. Her other backup receiver spot now belongs to Laviska Shenault, who was added for Tyler Boyd.

UPDATE: Leaping Girl will start Michael Pittman over Courtland Sutton at WR3.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Growlers)

QB Jalen Hurts
RB Alvin Kamara
RB Ezekiel Elliott
WR DeAndre Hopkins
WR Mike Evans
WR Michael Pittman
TE T.J. Hockenson
RB D'Andre Swift
K Ryan Succop
DEF Pittsburgh Steelers

Ridiculous Rascals

Current Record: (5-2, 3rd Place)

Rascal wasn't perfect in Week 7, but 145 points were enough to beat Rare Woofs, and keep him in the chase for the top spot in the league. This week, Rascal gambles on Daniel Jones, dropping Trevor Lawrence to stream the inconsistent Giants QB. Rascal also brought in Nick Folk, the highest scoring kicker in fantasy football, as Justin Tucker is on bye. Finally, Rascal will start Chase Edmonds over Brandin Cooks, though that may change if Tyrod Taylor seems ready to play against the Rams.

UPDATE: Rascal has chosen Greg Zuerlein instead of Nick Folk as his kicker this week.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Canine Comets)

QB Daniel Jones
RB Jonathan Taylor
RB Joe Mixon
WR Tyreek Hill
WR Ja'Marr Chase
WR Robert Woods
TE Zach Ertz
RB Chase Edmonds
K Greg Zuerlein
DEF Los Angeles Rams

Bark Force

Current Record: (5-2, 2nd Place)

Coming off a big loss to Leaping Girl, the last thing Bark Force needed was Lamar Jackson going on bye, leaving them to start Aaron Rodgers without Davante Adams and Allen Lazard, facing the stellar Cardinals defense on a short week, but that's the scenario they're facing. It doesn't help that Bark Force will also have to play without Adams, as he heads to the reserve for this week. That extra roster spot was used to add Graham Gano, who starts at kicker with Daniel Carlson on bye, and Adams' spot in the lineup is taken by CeeDee Lamb, returning from bye. Marvin Jones and James Robinson return to the starting lineup, and Bark Force dropped Darius Slayton to add Christian Kirk, who may end up starting if DeAndre Hopkins is out for Thursday night. Finally, Bark Force made a change at defense, dropping the Broncos to add and start the Chargers.

UPDATE: With Cooper Rush starting tonight, Bark Force will bench CeeDee Lamb to start Sterling Shepard.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Rare Woofs)

QB Aaron Rodgers
RB Derrick Henry
RB James Robinson
WR CeeDee Lamb
WR Sterling Shepard
WR Marvin Jones
TE Ricky Seals-Jones
RB Darrell Henderson
K Graham Gano
DEF Los Angeles Chargers

Tailwaggerz

Current Record: (5-2, 1st Place)

After a couple weeks spent working their way back up the standings, Tailwaggerz has reclaimed first, and hopes to actually hang on to it this time, unlike in Week 5, where they were bounced back out immediately. They get Dalvin Cook, Adam Thielen, Najee Harris, and Keenan Allen back into their starting lineup, providing a significant boost that they arguably didn't even need. They made one waiver move this week, dropping Tim Patrick to add C.J. Uzomah, who will be the backup at tight end to starter Kyle Pitts.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Tug of War)

QB Matthew Stafford
RB Dalvin Cook
RB Najee Harris
WR Cooper Kupp
WR Terry McLaurin
WR Keenan Allen
TE Kyle Pitts
WR Adam Thielen
K Harrison Butker
DEF Arizona Cardinals

South Park "Not Funny" Review

Good night, amateur trolls that trolled a troll and trolled themselves into a troll, brothers. With one episode to go in the season, South Park has remained consistently funny and on-point with their humor, though I worry about how their going to wrap all of this up. There are a good six to seven ongoing storylines right now, and only one episode to finish off a few of them. There was no clear focus this week, but I'll start where the episode ended, with Gerald's troll-based storyline. It's pretty satisfying to see the Troll Hunter's massive revelation; that he is, in fact, just another troll, bent on world destruction. Even Gerald couldn't find the humor in his master plan, as the Troll Hunter is truly in a league of his own. With the world on the brink of war, the trolling has truly begun, as the Troll Hunter went to work on his own employees and the other trolls, though why they had to be naked for that is beyond me. Kyle is always a sucker for saving the ...
