Henry's Universe Mode(Season 4) Episode 2: SmackDown

After Daniel Bryan returned as an active competitor two nights ago at WrestleMania, SmackDown is now left without a GM. In his final few acts in charge, Bryan took part in the 2018 WWE Draft and booked tonight's match card, taking care not to book himself. He's also been allowed to select his replacement, and is set to announce who SmackDown's new GM will be to start the show.

In addition to that news, we should see a great night of action, with multiple champions in action and some more debuts. AJ Styles faces Chad Gable, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn take on TM-61 and in the main event, new WWE Champion Drew McIntyre faces a stiff test in John Cena.

Daniel Bryan Promo

Bryan opened the show to huge cheers from the fans in attendance, and quickly said a few words about his big win over The Miz, before going straight into his announcement. SmackDown's new General Manager is..............................the Rated R Superstar, Edge! The crowd in Honolulu were beside themselves as Edge made his first appearance in Universe Mode in over a year and a half. He was all smiles, but before he could go into any of his plans for SmackDown moving forward, he was rudely interrupted by someone else's theme song. GLORIOUS! It's Bobby Roode! The Glorious One made the most of the moment, soaking up the spotlight as he sauntered to the ring. Roode said he was here to make a statement, and to show everyone that he is the blue brand's next big star. Now it was Edge's turn to interrupt. If Bobby Roode wanted to make a name for himself, he will get that chance next week, because he will go one on one with Daniel Bryan!

Curt Hawkins vs Tye Dillinger

Now on SmackDown, Curt Hawkins looked to turn around his career. Unfortunately for him, Tye Dillinger was red hot on this night, riding a wave of momentum and "10" chants from the crowd to a win with the Tye Breaker.

Winner: Tye Dillinger

The Wyatt Family vs Local Talent

With Bray watching on, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan faced two local competitors. The two youngsters gave it their best shot, but quickly fell at the hands of Harper and Rowan, who debuted a new tag finisher, the Bludgeoning.

Winners: The Wyatt Family

Nia Jax Promo

The SmackDown Women's Champion got straight to the point, demanding an audience with Edge, who grudgingly made his way back out to the ring. Nia stated that if she is to be the most dominant champion in Universe Mode, she's going to need to face better than chumps like Beth Phoenix. Edge bristled at Nia's insult of his wife, and angrily told her that he would meet her demand. Next week, we will see Asuka face Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair, and the winner will challenge Nia at Backlash!

AJ Styles vs Chad Gable

This was an exciting, back and forth contest, as Chad Gable showed that he definitely has the potential to be a break-out star. Gable outwrestled Styles on the mat, and found an incredible amount of counters, even showing resiliency after kicking out of the Phenomenal Forearm. AJ was still exhausted after his war with Kenny Omega, but even though his body was giving out, his champion's instinct took over. AJ willed his way to victory, pushing through adversity to put Gable away with a Styles Clash.

Winner: AJ Styles

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs Heath Slater and Rhyno

Before any match could happen, The Usos had other ideas. The former tag team champions ambushed the men who defeated them at WrestleMania, showing no mercy. Owens was sent headfirst into the mini-tron by Jey Uso, and then both brothers took out Zayn, hitting him with multiple superkicks and then a nasty double team suplex on the steel ramp.

Drew McIntyre vs John Cena

There may be no hotter star in wrestling right now than Drew McIntyre, and the Scottish Psychopath continued his dominance. John Cena pulled out every trick in his extensive playbook, but nothing he had was a match for the incredible combination of speed and power that McIntyre possesses. The one ace up Cena's sleeve was the Attitude Adjustment, but he never got a chance to hit his best move. McIntyre stayed in control the entire way through, getting another big win by hitting the Claymore Kick and a Future Shock DDT for the three count.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

Post-Match

Most of the crowd was still shocked by McIntyre's win as the WWE Champion celebrated in the ring, a smirk on his face. But his night wasn't over yet, as from the back, a new challenger emerged- Samoa Joe! Joe won the Brand Warfare match at WrestleMania, earning himself a world title match, and it appears like he has chosen his target. The Scotsman quickly fell prey to the Coquina Clutch, and McIntyre was out! The show closed with Joe standing tall, WWE Championship in his grasp.

American Dad "Twinanigans" Review

It's been a while since the last Steve and Roger episode, and this week reminded me why that's such a classic American Dad pairing. This is a genuinely fun episode, filled with some great one liners and even a great callback to the show's past. "Twinanigans" centers around the heretofore unmentioned acting careers of Roger and Steve, who twinned it up as the Smith Brothers. I'm not going to question whether this backstory actually makes sense to the overall timeline; no one watches American Dad for continuity. Steve had to give up acting to attend kindergarten, and wants to give Roger a second chance at greatness. The two head to auditions, where Steve impresses and Roger blows it. It's here the episode kinda misfires, as it's never made abundantly clear why Roger struggles so much at acting. Is he just trying too hard, does he have some form of stage fright, does he not even know what acting is? This part of the story is just never explained, w...

Henry's Pay-Per-View Reviews: ECW Heatwave 1998

As the world collectively loses it's mind over the coronavirus(this could be a fun intro to look back on in the future), the only sanity that can be found is in the ring. Let's take a look today at what is often considered ECW's finest outing, Heatwave '98. - Jokes aside, everyone should stay safe out there. I know it's easy to panic about these mass outbreaks, and I've certainly felt very nervous about everything I've heard and read over the past week. But I think we all need some fun in our lives right now, and this show is the epitome of distraction. - The opening contest is one of the highlights of the night, as Jerry Lynn takes on Justin Credible. Credible has an entire entourage in his corner, including Chastity, Jason and Nicole Bass, and their involvement in this match at times bordered on excessive. But the match begins to hit it's peak when Lynn puts Credible through a table with a hurricanrana, and it's all fantastic from...

Henry's Universe Mode #205: SmackDown Live

Over the weekend, big news was broken by SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan, as he announced two title rematches for No Mercy. First up, Kenny Omega will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Randy Orton, and in the second, John Cena will look to make his first defense as WWE Champion against AJ Styles. Tonight on SmackDown Live, it's another Summerslam rematch in the main event, as Alexa Bliss defends against Emma. Can the Australian Sensation punch her ticket to No Mercy? Plus, Heath Slater takes on Aiden English, and the Phenomenal One, AJ Styles, is in singles action. Universe Mode SmackDown Live September 12th, 2017 Location: Dallas, TX Heath Slater vs Aiden English This was a big chance for momentum for both of these two men, as Slater was kicked out of the Social Outcasts a few months ago, while English's tag team partner, Simon Gotch, was recently released. Both of these men showed a lot of potential, and got the crowd invested on a couple of nea...
