CM Punk(c) vs John Cena- Steel Cage Match for the Intercontinental Title
We opened Summerslam big, as the Intercontinental Title was on the line. This match shaped up to be a real battle, but what we got was a farce of a match. Punk claimed that he would out-wrestle Cena, but he did no such thing. Instead, Punk took every attempt to escape the cage he could, refusing to even lock up with his challenger. After a brawl climbing up the cage, Cena took a bad landing right on his surgically repaired neck. Punk, with no shame whatsoever, took the opportunity, climbed over the cage and retained his belt, as Cena lay on the mat, writhing in pain.
Winner and still Intercontinental Champion: CM Punk
Tyson Kidd and Cesaro(c) vs Edge and Christian- WWE Tag Team Title Match
The Swiss Superman wrestled the first of his two matches, as he and Tyson Kidd defended their tag team titles. The challengers isolated Tyson Kidd, not wanting to deal with the King of Swing's power. Cesaro stood on the apron, watching on in dismay as his partner was picked apart. Edge and Christian's egos got the best of the them, as they grew too cocky and allowed Cesaro to make the tag. They then dominated, as Edge watched on as his tag partner was isolated and destroyed. The champs connected with a Giant Swing into a dropkick, and Tyson covered Christian to retain the titles. Cesaro kept gold around his waist in his first match of the night.
Winners and still WWE Tag Team Champions: Tyson Kidd and Cesaro
Chyna(c) vs Trish Stratus- WWE Women's Title Match
Trish Stratus spent months on the shelf after her neck surgery, and made her return a few weeks ago to defeat Lita. Now, Trish finally got the opportunity to win back her title, but standing in the way was the Ninth Wonder of the World, Chyna. Trish was determined not to be afraid, and took it right to the Women's champ, who struggled getting out of the blocks. Chyna quickly turned it around, however, and nearly knocked out Trish with a vicious DDT, but the Queen of Queens just got the shoulder up. Chyna, with no remorse, targeted the neck of the courageous challenger, but Trish continued to fight, catching Chyna with a big Stratusfaction, only to see the monstrous champion kick out at two. Chyna looked to finish things off, but Trish dodged the Pedigree over and over again. Chyna caught Trish with another vicious DDT, only to force another insane kickout as the crowd lost their collective minds. Trish continued to hang in and fight with everything in her being, and it paid off when she avoided a powerbomb and knocked out Chyna with a Chick Kick. Trish just got the cover, and became a two-time WWE Women's Champion. Trish provided a second match of the year candidate, and both performers were given a massive ovation for an incredible battle.
Winner and the NEW WWE Women's Champion: Trish Stratus
The Undertaker vs Kane- Hell in a Cell Match
The two demonic brothers met inside the cell, and it was an all out fight. Kane scored the first blow, nearly bashing the Deadman's brains out with a steel chair. The Phenom took everything Kane could throw at him and fought back, hitting a huge volley of moves, but the Big Red Machine reversed the Tombstone, staying alive. The two brawled on the outside of the ring, and Kane continued his assault with the steel steps. Eventually the fight reached a boiling point, and they spilled outside of the structure, continuing to brawl all around the outside. Once the match was taken back inside the cell, The Deadman found a second wind, and connected on a Tombstone for a narrow two count. The Undertaker, undeterred, locked his brother in a Hell's Gate, which stayed on for a minutes on end. Kane found his way out of the hold with a sledgehammer shot to the skull, and then planted Taker with not one but two massive chokeslams onto a pile of steel chairs. The Big Red Monster then put it to rest with a decisive Tombstone Piledriver to pick up the three count. As Kane celebrated his victory in the ring, the rest of the Raw roster must now be put on notice, for there's a monster on the loose.
Winner: Kane
Dean Ambrose(c) vs Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler- United States Title Match
Dolph took the smart option, remaining outside of the ring as Owens and Ambrose tore each other apart. This strategy worked for a little while, as both men were intent on each other, but they quickly realized what was happening and brought the Show-Off back in. The brief alliance evaporated, and all three men traded finishers and nearfalls, with the other competitor breaking up the cover. Ambrose and Ziggler brawled for a little while, before Owens re-entered the match with a fire. With the crowd noticeably behind him, KO destroyed his opponents, and was left with both men down and out. He picked Dean to his feet, intending to finish off the champion, and dropped him with a Pop-Up Powerbomb. Before he could capitalize, Ziggler nearly kicked his head off with a devastating superkick, and while Owens was stunned, rolled him up with a small package to get the three and the title. Ziggler raced up the ramp, new belt in tow, while Owens and Ambrose looked frustrated and furious.
Winner and the NEW United States Champion: Dolph Ziggler
Stone Cold Steve Austin(c) vs Brock Lesnar vs Bray Wyatt- World Heavyweight Title Match
Raw GM Paul Heyman was noticeably missing, and stated that he wanted to remain impartial, so Lesnar would enter alone. Lesnar and Wyatt obviously had a pre-arranged alliance, as they worked together for a majority of the match. Austin was completely decimated, hit with power move after power move as The Eater of Worlds and the Beast Incarnate took their best shots. After Austin rolled out of the ring, the alliance disintegrated, as Wyatt and Lesnar went right at each other. Austin pulled the same move as Ziggler, taking advantage of the opportunity to rest and heal up. Wyatt proved how dominant he can be, dominating Lesnar before Austin got involved again. All three men then got into a ferocious brawl, involving several steel chairs, that saw any possible friendship severed. Wyatt again got the advantage, planting Lesnar with a Sister Abigail on a steel chair. Before he could make the cover, the Rattlesnake struck, unleashing his pent-up aggression on the Eater of Worlds. Austin connected with a Stunner, and then another, and then another. Wyatt was out, but Austin wasn't making the cover. Lesnar capitalized, dropping Austin with an F-5 and covering Wyatt to crown a new champion.
After the match, Raw GM Paul Heyman uncorked the champagne, as the Beast celebrated with his title, leaving all to wonder who could possibly stop Brock Lesnar.
Winner and the NEW World Heavyweight Champion: Brock Lesnar
Randy Orton(c) vs Cesaro- WWE Title Match
The Swiss Superman made his way down to the ring for the second time, ready to challenge for the richest prize on Smackdown. Orton looked uneasy for the first time in months, having seen multiple championships change hands already.
It was a technical start to the bout, both men feeling each other out. They then began to trade offensive maneuvers, Orton using his cunning nature and Cesaro, his all out strength. Following a series of near falls, Orton appeared to retreat, but only lured Cesaro into a trap, taking advantage of Cesaro's brawling nature. The Viper picked his challenger apart, as the King of Swing began to show the after-effects of wrestling his second match of the night. Orton nearly put it away with a RKO, but Cesaro just stayed alive. Two European Uppercuts had the champion on the ropes, but it was Orton who avoided the fatal blow, countering the Neutralizer. Both men exhausted from a grueling bout, traded blows in the center of the ring as the crowd got to their feet. Cesaro caught Randy with a Neutralizer, but Orton just got the shoulder up in time. The WWE Champion staggered to his feet, and dropped Cesaro with an RKO, but it was Cesaro who got the shoulder up. Orton, frustrated, busted Cesaro open with a series of vicious right hands, and pulled a rare move by climbing to the top rope. His mistake proved to be costly, as Cesaro, face covered in blood, caught Orton with another European Uppercut and a second Neutralizer to finally earn the three count and end the Age of Orton.
As Cesaro celebrated becoming a dual champion and the face of Smackdown, he was joined by tag partner and best friend Tyson Kidd. The two men hugged it out in the center of the ring, alone at the top of the mountain.
Winner and the NEW WWE Champion: Cesaro
This certainly was a busy night of action. Four belts changed hands, signaling a new era(!) in Henry's Universe Mode. This post took a very long time to make, and most of these storylines have been planned since the very beginning of this series. This is by no means the end of Universe Mode; think of it as a season finale. There will be more Universe Mode content tomorrow, in the form of a brand new idea I think you all will like. Until then, take care.
