Looking for Opportunity
After agreeing to team up on the last episode of Raw, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins now went to the office of Shane McMahon. They wanted a chance to put themselves in the title picture, and Shane agreed. Next week, Ambrose and Rollins will face former champions, American Alpha. If they can pick up the win, he'll consider giving them a title match.
Mickie James vs Sasha Banks
This was a highly competitive, hard fought match to kick off the show, as Sasha Banks and Mickie James squared off. The veteran James showed a lot of resiliency in fighting out of the Bank Statement, but she would eventually fall when the hold was locked in for a second time.
Winner: Sasha Banks
Sasha Banks Promo
Afterward, she got on the mic to deliver an address. Sasha stated that Becky's win over her on Raw was a fluke, and Becky's championship win meant nothing. It's time to right the wrongs, and time for the Boss to rule Raw once more. Before she could get any farther, she was interrupted by Asuka. The Empress threw her name in the title picture as well, given that she has beaten both Banks and Lynch. Shane quickly made the match- Sasha Banks vs Asuka for number one contendership, next week on Raw.
#DIY vs The Revival
These two top flight teams put on a clinic, as they battled for momentum. There were plenty of close calls throughout, with all four men getting a chance to shine. Early on, Gargano and Ciampa tried to top each other with dueling suicide dives. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder would take back control with two big chop blocks, opening up Johnny Wrestling with rights and lefts. It would come down to the iron will and determination of Gargano, who survived the assault and countered into a small package for the three count.
Winners: #DIY
Jinder Mahal vs Shinsuke Nakamura- #1 Contender's Match for the United States Championship
The alliance formed between Rusev and Jinder Mahal recently would play its role in Raw's main event, as the Bulgarian Brute accompanied Mahal to the ring. The numbers game would make a huge difference in this match, as Jinder and Shinsuke Nakamura were relatively well matched. Both men survived some vicious offense, with Nakamura kicking out of the Khallas and Mahal doing the same on a middle rope Kinshasa. The big knee strike would connect again, but Rusev saved the match, pulling the official out of the ring. This distraction was enough for the Modern Day Maharajah, who connected on the Khallas once more for the win. In an ultimate twist of irony, Rusev must now face the man he helped at Summerslam.
Winner: Jinder Mahal
A Call Out
Finn Balor made his way to the ring, keeping a watchful eye out for a sneak attack. He called out Braun Strowman, as promised, and Strowman didn't back down, joining him in the ring. Balor wanted revenge for Braun costing him the Universal Championship, and challenged him to a rematch at Summerslam. Braun is nothing if not an intelligent monster, and accepted the match on one condition: Finn Balor is banned from using his demon persona. Balor nodded, and then was dropped with one big right hand. Strowman chuckled to himself in the ring as the show closed.
