American Dad "Persona Assistant" Review

In celebration of American Dad's 250th episode, the show once again goes completely off the rails in an episode that was probably written by someone on literally every single drug in the world. It's also an incredible episode, easily the best since I started reviewing this show. Right away, "Persona Assistant" has some incredible gags to start things off. First we get a look at all of Roger's different personas in action, ranging from an ostrich-riding serial killer to a newborn baby, somehow. This transitions seamlessly to interrupting the show's opening musical number, as Roger's workload causes him to miss out on his verse. We get the central conflict of the episode very quickly, as Roger has a stress related tumor and Stan is forced to take over managing his personas. I feel like this episode is not the easiest for me to describe, given so much of it relies on visual gags rather than an actual storyline. How in the world am I supposed to just te...

American Dad "Flavortown" Review

After a solid start to the season, this week American Dad treats us to an absolutely insane episode, featuring Guy Fieri becoming a literal demon, some valet shenanigans and Smith family war. So grab some habanero mango queso-cheese sauce, sit back and enjoy.  The biggest knock I would have on "Flavortown" is the truly wild pacing of the episode. We start off innocently enough, as Stan criticizes Jeff during family game night. It's great to have a Jeff-centric main story this week, but the fact that he feels like a passenger throughout all of this, while intentional, doesn't really feel right. Stan wants Jeff to find a job, which he does at a pizza restaurant, and suddenly Guy Fieri is here and all hell breaks loose. Stan is a big fan of Guy, and urges Jeff to join his crew, which somehow turns into Jeff taking Guy's persona and becoming possessed by a demon, all in about ten minutes. There's some nice animation throughout this storyline, particul...

Henry's Universe Mode(Season 4) Episode 16: Money in the Bank(Part 2)

In Part 2 of Money in the Bank, the first Ms. Money in the Bank is crowned, AJ Styles looks for revenge against Finn Balor and both world titles are on the line. Billie Kay vs Kairi Sane vs Mickie James vs Peyton Royce vs Ruby Riott vs Shayna Baszler- Money in the Bank Ladder Match (Henry's Note: Same as the men's match, I'm going to be skipping straight to the finish) Shayna Baszler was the clear star of this match, clearing the ring of Mickie James and Ruby Riott, countering the elbow drop of Kairi Sane and taking her out too. The IIconics teamed up to take on Baszler, and it looked like Billie Kay and Peyton Royce had the match in the bag. But the two friends couldn't decide who should take the briefcase, coming to blows and allowing a grinning Baszler to send Kay to the floor and drop Royce with a running knee. The Queen of Spades unhooked the briefcase to become the first Ms. Money in the Bank, and giving Raw a clean sweep. Winner: Shayna Baszler AJ...

Henry's Universe Mode(Season 4): Money in the Bank Preview

Money in the Bank is a life-changing opportunity. Last year's Mr. Money in the Bank, Tyler Breeze, went on to capture the WWE Championship and enter WrestleMania as the reigning champion. Two briefcases will be on the line, in addition to both world titles. Money in the Bank 2018 Card New Day(c) vs The Revival- Raw Tag Team Championship Match Despite many chances, The Revival are still yet to become tag team champions in Universe Mode. They desperately want to hold gold, and issued an extremely risky challenge to the New Day: a championship match, where should The Revival lose, they must leave WWE. Will the gamble pay off, or will Money in the Bank be the final match for Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson? Asuka(c) vs Sasha Banks- SmackDown Women's Championship Match Following her win over Charlotte Flair at Judgment Day, Sasha Banks was quickly named number one contender. These two women met twice last year, including at WrestleMania, and both have one w...

American Dad "One-Woman Swole" Review

Questionable title aside, it is really, really great to have American Dad back. The show has been on hiatus since early May, and I've missed it. So let's dive into AD's first episode of 2019. "One-Woman Swole" feels like a three act episode, and the overall pacing gets more than a little wonky. A lot of the jokes in the early part of this episode just didn't work for me, from Stan darting a gym employee to avoiding paying for a membership to later waiting for an embroidered jacket. It's all way to random, with jokes coming a mile a minute, and nothing has time to really stick. The show takes about ten minutes to set up the main plot, that Francine's a quitter and her family makes fun of her for it, something that could've been explained in about three. From here, the episode improves as it finally finds its feet, and Francine dives fully into bodybuilding to prove her family wrong. If you've watched this show for any significant porti...

Henry's Universe Mode(Season 4) Episode 13: Mae Young Classic

Bianca Belair vs Deonna Purrazzo- First Round Match Up first, two women who may represent NXT's future faced off as Bianca Belair took on Deonna Purrazzo.
