Leaping Girl is put under pressure against the onslaught of Tug of War and Rascal desperately fights to keep his playoff hopes alive in Week 12 of the Dog League. (Reminder: the Dog League is a custom fantasy football league run on NFL.com)
Game 1: Ridiculous Rascals vs Tailwaggerz
Both of these teams have been ice cold the past month or so, and Tailwaggerz would secure a playoff spot with a win, eliminating Rascal from contention. The defending champs got off to a good start on Thursday thanks to Deshaun Watson(18.92 points). Sunday looked good on the outset for them, as the two Saints, Alvin Kamara(19.2 points) and Jared Cook(21.9 points) joined up with the revitalized Odell Beckham(20.4 points) to hold the lead. But it was the inconsistency of Tailwaggerz that cost them, as an unexpected horrible day from Josh Jacobs(4.6 points) and the awful performances of Matt Gay(2 points) and the Raiders defense(2 points) gave Rascal a lifeline. Rascal's waiver moves proved to be crucial, as new additions Jarvis Landry(36.8 points) and Calvin Ridley(22 points) led him to the sweetest of victories, snapping a five game losing streak and giving him the tiebreaker over Tailwaggerz. Now just a game out with two to play, Rascal still has the chance to salvage a season that looked completely dead and buried just last week.
Final: Ridiculous Rascals(134.96) - Tailwaggerz(110.62)
Game 2: Rare Woofs vs Bark Force
In the entire time both teams have been in the Dog League, Bark Force has never beaten Rare Woofs, totaling five straight defeats. Needing to keep their playoff hopes alive, they had their eyes set on doing what Rascal had done, getting off to a great start thanks to DeAndre Hopkins(27.4 points). A great start to Sunday from Nick Chubb(25.4 points) and the Bills defense(18 points) saw Bark Force open up a 50 point lead, on the edge of finally breaking through with a big win. But if there's one thing to learn from Rare Woofs these past few weeks, it's to never count them out. Christian McCaffrey(34.3 points) stayed in MVP form, but with Dalvin Cook on bye, they would need another player to step up and provide secondary scoring. The game would turn at the quarterback position, where despite a poor start, Jameis Winston(24.32 points) out-dueled Matt Ryan(7.64 points), getting Rare Woofs back in the game. A complete bust from Amari Cooper(0 points) put Rare Woofs under pressure again heading into Sunday night, but it was there that they took full control. Davante Adams(19.3 points) and the 49ers defense(16 points) were as solid as always, while Aaron Jones(3.8 points) had his worst game of the year at the most inopportune time. Todd Gurley(4.9 points) didn't manage much on Monday night, making the decision to start him over D.J. Moore(31.4 points) look baffling in hindsight and resigning Bark Force to another defeat to Rare Woofs. The league leaders picked up their tenth win of the year, becoming the first team in league history to do so.
Final: Rare Woofs(140.62) - Bark Force(110.34)
Game 3: Tug of War vs Leaping Girl
This was it, the biggest game of the week and possibly of the year, with both teams having combined to win their past seven games combined. Unfortunately from the neutral perspective, this was Tug of War we're talking about, former two-time champions and an unstoppable force of nature over the past month. Drew Brees(22.44 points), Derrick Henry(28.5 points), Michael Thomas(26.1 points), Chris Godwin(36.4 points) and Zach Ertz(27.1 points) all combined for 6 hours of misery for a Leaping Girl team in complete disarray, with only a few of her players even reaching double digit scoring and not one coming close to even 20 points. The returning George Kittle(24.9 points) at least made her scoreline slightly more passable as Sunday came to an end, but she was still facing the herculean task of overcoming a near 70 point deficit as Lamar Jackson and Mark Ingram squared off with Cooper Kupp and Greg Zuerlein. If ever there was a time for a miracle, now would be that time. Fortunately for her, the Ravens destroyed the Rams on Monday night in a statement win, led by her two starts. Jackson(36.26 points) and Ingram(24.8 points) put together their best combined game of the year, as Tug of War's lead slowly began to shrink. But in the end, even subpar performances from Kupp(9.5 points) and Zuerlein(6 points) would be enough, as Emma never even got the lead into single digits. A fantastic effort, a brilliant comeback attempt that ultimately fell short, leaving her two games behind Rare Woofs with two to play.
Final: Tug of War(174.04) - Leaping Girl(150.96)
