Summary:
We opened Smackdown with two members of competing tag teams, Cesaro and Big E, going head to head. Cesaro clearly had the advantage early on, but Xavier kept getting involved to save his partner. Xavier got a chair involved, but the plan backfired, as Tyson distracted the referee and Cesaro clocked Big E with the steel. They continued fighting, and it looked like Cesaro had the match won off of three impressive gutwrench suplexes, but Xavier got involved again. Cesaro took out Xavier, but then Big E jumped him from behind. Cesaro tried to put Big E away with the Neutralizer, but Big E countered and took out the Swiss Superman with a diving spear. More offense was traded, and Xavier was ejected for arguing a 2 count. Cesaro, with no Xavier to stop him, then hit a big uppercut and pulled out the giant swing to put Big E away. Next up, the Diva's Champ Nikki Bella faced a strong challenger in Natalya. Before the match could even get under way, Nikki jumped Natalya during her entrance, showing the aggresion that the WWE Universe has seen so much over the past few weeks. Natalya fought back though, hitting big power moves and putting the champ in trouble quite a few times. Nikki resorted to cheating to stay in the match, rolling to the outside and hitting a few eye pokes behind the ref's back. Whatever she did though, Natalya wouldn't stay down, and Nattie would then hit her big spinning clothesline, and she surprisingly got the three count, although on second viewing, it appeared that Nikki's arm was underneath the bottom rope. Nikki, frustrated with the loss, jumped Natalya again after the match, and appeared that she wanted to break the Canadian's arm, before Brie Bella struck again, saving Natalya. With more and more contenders coming for her title, how will Nikki respond? Two teams made their Smackdown debut in our next match, and Edge and Christian faced The Vaudevillains. Edge and Christian showed just how good they are early on, dominating the match. The Vaudevillains weren't going down without a fight, however, and Simon Gotch continued to impress, hitting a rolling senton. Edge made the comeback, hitting an Edgecution that would've ended the match, but Aiden English broke it up. After both teams brawled on the outside, Edge finally finished off Gotch with an impressive lifting Spear.
Our semi-main event saw the United States Title on the line as Booker T and Dean Ambrose did battle once more. It was the third time the two faced off, and Booker was using his rematch clause from losing his United States Title at Extreme Rules. Dean had the advantage early on, using his hardcore background to pummel Booker outside the ring. Booker had the advantage in mat and technical wrestling, and used it several times, taking down the champ and hitting several big slams. Dean, like a cockroach, refused to stay down, and nearly got the win off of a flying crossbody outside the ring, but Booker barely beat the count. An Alabama Slam connected for Booker, but Dean kicked out. Booker, frustrated, then set up and hit the Axe Kick, but Dean got the shoulder up again. A DDT for Booker got him close again, Ambrose rallied, shaking off a right hand and hitting a powerbomb followed by a jacknife cover, but it was Booker's turn to kick out. Ambrose then locked in the Regal Stretch, which Booker powered out of, but he turned right into a Dirty Deeds, busting the challenger open and finally get the job done for the champion. It took one hell of an effort, but Dean Ambrose retained again. What is next for the United States Champion, and what is next for Booker T? Our main event saw the WWE Champion in action against the World's Largest Athlete, the Big Show. The Rock immediately saw that he was in for one hell of a fight, as Show tossed him around. The champ fought with everything he had, and finally felled the giant. Rock did everything he could to keep Show on the mat, but the giant was unwilling to play along, getting to his feet before delivering a big spear, that nearly kept the champ down for the 3 count. A People's Elbow followed by a Rock Bottom seemed to have the match won, but somehow Show kicked out. Show, more angry than injured, fought back with venom, and the champ looked to be out of it until he managed to get the giant off balance and catch him with a roll up for the three count. The Big Show took the champ to his limit, but The Rock proved why he is the WWE Champion.
That's it for another iteration of Universe Mode. Next up, the debut episode of Main Event. Until then, I'll see you next time.
