For one night each year, rules are forgotten, insanity is embraced, and men and women go to war for the biggest prizes the business has to offer. This is......Extreme Rules!!!
(Apologies for the lack of content, and you can go ahead and forget the schedule I mentioned in Smackdown's post. There will likely never be a schedule on this blog, and I think it's better for it. Also, stay tuned for my Wrestlemania review, likely coming out on Monday. Also, I hope you enjoyed my April Fool's post yesterday).

Summary:
We opened the first pay per view of the series with a grudge match for the Women's Title between fierce rivals Trish Stratus and Lita. It was the champ who gained the early advantage, using her guile to outsmart the challenger several times. After playing possum on a diving attack, Trish hit the Chick Kick, thinking she had scored the victory, but Lita kicked out at 2. A Twist of Fate from the challenger appeared to give her momentum, but Trish countered again, taking control and hitting a Stratusfaction, only for Lita to kick out again. It took a roll up and a handful of tights for Trish to retain, who left knowing she barely escaped with her belt. Next up was a Falls Count Anywhere Match for the United States Title. Both men took advantage of the stipulation early on, with a brawl outside the ring involving multiple weapons. Ambrose brought out the wood in the form of a table, which back fired as Booker then put him through, then slammed him on top of the wreckage, but could only get a 2 count. Booker was determined to retain his title, and went on a rampage with a set of steel steps, but couldn't keep Ambrose down. As the challenger got up, the champ then delivered a Book End on the concrete, but Ambrose kicked out again. In the end, Ambrose rallied, and delivered a devastating Dirty Deeds through the announce table onto the floor, and pinned Booker to win the United States Title, avenging his loss for Week 1 of Smackdown. Up next saw the Diva's Title on the line in the third meeting between AJ Lee and Nikki Bella. Nikki was on fire coming into this match, and continued her momentum, dominating the early going and nearly winning the match just a few minutes in. AJ staged a comeback, nearly getting a 3 count off a big suplex, and seemed to be getting closer to recapturing her title. AJ went for the Black Widow, but Nikki countered, hitting her two best offensive moves, the forearm smash followed by the Rack Attack, but somehow AJ kicked out. Nikki was bewildered, and nearly got caught on a roll up, but used her strength to regain the advantage, and throw AJ all over the outside of the ring. She then grabbed a chair, and after the ref was taken out, proceeded to hit AJ in the skull with it, before picking her up and hitting another Rack Attack for the win. After the match, AJ had to be helped out, apparently suffering a concussion from the chair shot. Nikki wasn't finished, preparing to attack AJ again, but it was Brie Bella, coming out of the crowd, who took down Nikki, who escaped to safety. When the two sisters will meet again is uncertain, though it appears that Brie is back and ready for vengeance.
Our next match was a Last Man Standing Match for the IC Title. Ryback was ready to go as soon as the bell rang, catching Cena by surprise. The challenger dominated the match for a little while, before Cena threw caution out the window, surprising Ryback with a big flying dropkick. He then put the Big Guy through a table, dragging him to his feet for a big stunner. The two brawled on the outside, unable to keep each other down, before Cena regained the advantage, rolling Ryback back inside the ring, hitting a Five Knuckle Shuffle followed by an Attitude Adjustment, but that was unable to keep Ryback down. Ryback fought back, hitting his clothesline, but it was Cena's turn to fight back. After blasting the Big Guy with a steel chair, he proceeded to put Ryback through the newly rebuilt announce table with a big Attitude Adjustment. That would prove to be enough, as Cena proved that he is quite the Intercontinental Champion. The final preliminary match saw the World Tag Titles on the line as the Brothers of Destruction defended against Luke Harper and Erick Rowan of the Wyatt Family. Rowan and Harper worked well together, isolating each member of the champs to work them over and gain the advantage. A distraction from Rowan let Harper hit his big clothesline on Taker, but Kane was there to break it up. Eventually, Rowan and Taker faced off in the ring while Harper and Kane went at it outside the ring. Taker hit the Last Ride on Rowan, but Rowan kicked out. Harper brained Kane with multiple chair shots, then slid the chairs into the ring, leading to Rowan planting Taker with a chokeslam on the steel. With Rowan watching Kane, Harper delivered a Tombstone Piledriver to the Undertaker and got the three count, winning the World Tag belts for the Wyatt Family. Both Rowan and Harper had to run for it as Kane entered the ring, fire in his eyes, and helped his dazed brother to his feet. With Wyatt putting his own belt on the line in the very next match, this could swing momentum firmly in the favor of the Wyatt Family.
The first of our two main events saw the World Title on the line, as the afore-mentioned Bray Wyatt defended against Chris Jericho. It was a very physical affair, with neither man pulling any punches with the top prize on Raw on the line. Wyatt attempted quite a few mind games, even attempting to get Jericho counted out. A big powerslam and a fallaway slam off the top rope weren't enough to put Jericho away, and the Eater of Worlds was close to pulling his hair out. Wyatt hit big move after big move, sentons off the top rope, a few more big slams, numberous big punches, but Jericho kicked out of everything. Wyatt lost his cool, attempting to hit Jericho with a chair, and the ref had to drag it away from him. Off the distraction, Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho, but Wyatt fought his way to the ropes. Jericho was now in control, but not for long, as he missed a diving elbow, and Wyatt went for the kill. A kiss to the forehead and a perfectly executed Sister Abigail proved to be enough, as Wyatt finally put Jericho away. With the Wyatt Family capturing the tag belts as well, Raw may now be in control of the Wyatts. The final match of Extreme Rules saw The Rock's WWE Title on the line in a triple threat match. Right from the start, Bryan and Orton were after each other, determined to settle the score after two highly competitive singles matches. The People's Champ let them fight for a little while before getting involved, nailing each man with a steel chair. Offense was traded around, with each guy getting in a signature maneuver or two. Orton got the biggest advantage, though, flooring Bryan before hitting an RKO on The Rock, but Bryan recovered in time to save the match. Bryan then would lock in the LaBell Lock on Orton, who was in turn saved by The Rock. More offense was traded, before Orton hit an RKO on Bryan, but the Viper turned around straight into a Rock Bottom, but Orton kicked out to save the match. Bryan hit a moonsault for a 2 count, another Rock Bottom, another RKO, but no one could put away the match. At last, the ending came when Orton hit an RKO on Bryan, but was too exhausted to capitalize. The People's Champ was not, pinning Bryan for a somewhat cheap victory to retain his title in a very solid, very fun triple threat match.
Our first pay per view of the Universe Mode went down very well, with every match being decent at the very least, and there was plenty of good wrestling to watch. Two titles changed hands, so make sure to check the champions' list, as those changes will be reflected. Stay tuned for an update on the new format of the series, and I hope you enjoyed Extreme Rules. Until then, have a great day and a great weekend, and I will see you on my Wrestlemania review.
