Armageddon. The literal definition is the end, the final battle, the conclusion, the climax. But where there is an end, there is also a beginning. Scorched earth brings new life, and the cycle repeats. What is one without the other? Tonight, the end....................is just the beginning.
Today, in Part 1 of 2016's final pay-per-view, champions and challengers collide with high stakes on the line. Gold is at stake, as four tag teams collide to settle scores and vanquish foes. The Lone Wolf puts his newly-won belt at stake for a shot at vengeance, and in Part 1's main event, former friends will go to war as the lovable champion faces the traitorous challenger. The end is here.
And now, Raw and SmackDown present......................Armageddon!

Itami and Balor(c) vs The New Day- World Tag Team Title Match
Both teams got going quickly, with Kofi and Hideo sharing a majority of the ring time together. Hideo got the champs going early, nearly knocking Kofi's lights out with a GTS, before Big E came in to make the save. The challengers rallied, as Kofi's speed and athletic ability and Big E's power had Hideo and Finn reeling. A Unicorn Stampede into a Midnight Hour seemed to have all but finished Hideo off, when the lights went out. When they came back on, Xavier Woods had been laid out at ringside, and Bray Wyatt's lantern was sitting beside him. Kofi and Big E were completely distracted, and Hideo and Finn took advantage, hitting an impressive assisted double foot stomp for another successful title retention.
Winners and still World Tag Team Champions: Itami and Balor
Baron Corbin(c) vs The Miz- Intercontinental Title Match
The Miz picked up a big win the last time these two met, getting the pin after an eye poke and a low blow. The Lone Wolf was looking for a little payback, but that was easier said than done, as the challenger did not come alone. It appeared that The Miz had formed a new alliance with Dolph Ziggler, and The Show-Off's arrival helped him out big time. Although Corbin tried to use his power to his advantage, The Miz was one step ahead of him all match long. The Awesome One showed his intelligence, continually working the legs of the champion, keeping Corbin on the defensive. Corbin did get some offense in, even hitting the End of Days, but it was Dolph's turn to get involved. Miz took advantage of the distraction, locking in the Figure 4 whilst using the bottom rope for extra leverage. The Miz's deceitful actions would work once more, as Corbin was forced to tap, handing The Miz his first Universe Mode gold, though it was surrounded with controversy.
Winner and the NEW Intercontinental Champion: The Miz
American Alpha(c) vs The Ascension- WWE Tag Team Title Match
The challengers looked ready to capture the gold, and it showed, as they controlled the match almost totally. They picked apart Jason Jordan, as Chad Gable could only watch on, doing his best to keep the match in check. Konnor and Viktor connected on not one but two Fall of Mans, but Gable's involvement kept the champions in it. The Ascension through everything they could at American Alpha, but Jordan and Gable dug deep, and fought on. Finally, their effort was rewarded when they caught Konnor with a Grand Amplitude, and somehow survived, title reign intact, to fight another day.
Winners and still WWE Tag Team Champions: American Alpha
Bayley(c) vs Sasha Banks- Raw Women's Title Match
These two former friends wasted no time going at it, as the gold was almost completely forgotten as hate flowed. Sasha took a more focused approach, picking apart Bayley's limbs and looking for vicious holds and stiff strikes. Bayley, for her part, just looked to hang into the match and survive Sasha's offense, looking for any mistakes. Sasha kept her game relatively mistake-free, opting for simpler, safer maneuvers, and that approach worked well, allowing her to lock in the Bank Statement. But Sasha, in spite of herself, would commit a crucial error, as she believed Bayley to be down and out, and that allowed the Hugster to get back into the match. The champion fired back with everything in her arsenal, lighting up the champion with every fiber of her being. She connected on a Bayley-to-Belly, and then another, and Bayley still didn't feel that the debt had properly been paid. She took Sasha to the top rope and delivered a third Bayley-to-Belly from the top, sending the Legit Boss crashing to the canvas. Finally, it was enough for Bayley, who collapsed into the cover to make her first defense of her title. Sasha threw everything she had at the champion, but it wasn't enough to overcome Bayley's heart and determination.
Winner and still Raw Women's Champion: Bayley
Survivor Series Part 1 closed with Sasha's betrayal, and Armageddon Part 1 closes with Bayley on top, successfully defending her title. What will Sasha's response to this result be? You'll have to fin out tomorrow on Raw, but before then, stay tuned for Part 2 of Armageddon later today, with Kane vs The Undertaker in the main event.
