WWE Traffic Stop: DUI Checkpoint edition.
In among the litany of jokes about its name, and the everyday complaints of internet commenters everywhere, the 'E produced this surprisingly good show. Maybe it's just because of the constant pessimism of the WWE's product, or maybe it's because it really was that good, but I really enjoyed this show. Although the crowd was fairly muted throughout, this show delivered a fairly grandiose feel that most B-level pay-per-views don't posses.
I was never on the New Day bandwagon, but I did enjoy their heel work in 2015. That said, I felt they deserved to break Demolition's record, and I thoroughly enjoyed their match tonight. Cesaro and Sheamus are a great pairing, constantly delivering on Raw, and it was no different tonight. They are well deserved tag champs, and I'm intrigued to see what the New Day will do now they have lost the belts.
I felt slightly baffled by Sami's "win" over Braun by outlasting the time limit. I will say though, that Sami is definitely getting a bit of a push with this match. If the rumors are to be believed, the Underdog from the Underground may be a favorite in the Rumble, which I'd be totally down for. I've become a pretty big Seth mark, but I couldn't enjoy his match with Y2J very much. It's obvious they're just killing time for Triple H at this point in time. The cruiserweight division has been a massive flop on Raw, and it showed once more, with the crowd completely dead throughout. Then Neville arrived, and changed everything. Neville's involvement and subsequent heel turn is exactly what the division needs, and gives it some serious star power.
To say that the Charlotte-Sasha storyline is controversial is like saying The Rock is electrifying. Folks the world over have weighed in on Raw's main female feud, most of it negative. Regardless or whether or not you like the story, their matches have constantly stole the show, and it was no different tonight. Their 30-minute Iron Woman match was a fantastic exhibition of wrestling skill and brilliant storytelling, as these two showcased everything women's wrestling is about. I can't say that I approve of the winner, or the constant hot-shotting of the belt, but I absolutely loved this match.
The main event was a bit of an afterthought, with Jericho and Owen's friendship getting most of the spotlight. The match itself was fun, as you'd expect from KO and Roman, and the finish accurately served the story they're telling. The best friends war is not a bad thing, and I would love Seth and Roman to serve as bad-ass faces.
