Money in the Bank 2019 Theme Song- "Money and the Power"- Kid Ink
Braun Strowman vs Rusev
Early on, it was made obvious that the "Monster Among Men" had the power advantage between these two, no-selling powerful Rusev lariats. Rusev would nearly be put away quickly, after Strowman delivered a chokeslam, though Lana distracted the official from making the pinfall. Strowman looked to finish it with the running powerslam, but Rusev countered and used the ropes for leverage with an impressive Alabama Slam. Another distraction from Lana allowed Rusev to use a steel chair, looking to injure the ribs and sternum of Strowman, setting up the Accolade. Braun powered back to his feet, knocking the chair from Rusev's hands. But the "Bulgarian Brute" kept on the attack, blasting Braun in the gut with a superkick before launching Strowman into the air and right onto Rusev's knee, further injuring the ribs. As Strowman made another attempt at the powerslam, Rusev sent him gut first into the turnbuckle, winding Braun before rolling him up with a small package to score the win!
Winner: Rusev
The Bar(c) vs The Ascension- Raw Tag Team Championship Match
Viktor and Sheamus were the stars for their respective teams on this night, with the "Celtic Warrior" in particular putting on a heroic performance. Multiple times, it seemed like Sheamus was dead to rights, especially after taking two Fall of Mans, but he still found a way to survive. Sheamus and Cesaro were able to do a lot of damage to Viktor, as they kept Konnor on the apron. This paid off after Cesaro took Viktor out with a Swiss Death uppercut, but he ate the canvas following a big boot from Konnor. This left Konnor and an exhausted Sheamus to decide the contest, and in the end, Sheamus pulled it out, countering the Full Nelson Slam into a Brogue Kick to secure victory.
Winners and still Raw Tag Team Champions: The Bar
Andrade "Cien" Almas(c) vs Chad Gable- Intercontinental Championship Match
With momentum on his side coming into tonight, Chad Gable was on top form, looking to finally put it all together. The challenger was on top form, out-wrestling the champion at every turn. More than that, Gable was able to score on a number of high risk chances, including a picture perfect moonsault. Almas would finally get going with pure tenacity, using damaging forearms that finally got him some space. With that, Almas hit the Cartwheel Pele Kick, as the champion saw the end looming. But Gable countered the Hammerlock DDT, sending Almas into the turnbuckle for the patented Chaos Theory! No count would be made, however, as Zelina Vega got involved, yelling at the official, but it would cost her, as the official was quickly delivered instructions via his earpiece, and ejected Vega from ringside! As Vega stormed off, kicking up quite a fuss, Gable watched her go. Utilizing his manager's unintended distraction, Almas rolled Gable up with a small package! The champion nearly retained right there, but the official was caught off guard and was just a second too late into the count. Almas was furious, and lost his cool, allowing Gable to quickly take the champion down and apply the Ankle Lock! As Hartford willed Gable on, he wrenched the hold as hard as he could, and with pain etched all over his face, Almas tapped! We have a new champion!
Winner and the NEW Intercontinental Champion: Chad Gable
Post-Match
As Chad Gable lifted his new prize aloft and celebrated in the ring with Jason Jordan, Almas made his way up the ramp, where Zelina Vega was waiting. Vega apologized profusely for her role in everything that had gone wrong for "El Idolo". Almas was having none of it, storming to the back and looking absolutely livid.
Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match
(As always, my summary of Money in the Bank matches includes only the finish)
Shayna Baszler spent most of this match in constant pursuit of the briefcase, knowing more than any other woman just what it could do for her career. After Becky Lynch and Naomi brawled to the outside, Baszler laid out Sasha Banks with a stiff superplex onto the ladder that took her out. Baszler scaled to the top, but was met at the top by Kairi Sane. With the Hartford crowd in her corner, Sane took the fight to Baszler with one forearm after another. But as Baszler teetered, so close to losing her grip and crashing to the mat, she just caught hold of the metal ring holding the briefcase. Baszler smashed the briefcase once, twice, three times off of Sane's skull..............and Kairi fell off the ladder, wiping out the recovering Charlotte Flair below! Shayna Baszler unhooked her prize, completely the incredible feat of winning her second Money in the Bank briefcase!
Winner: Shayna Baszler
