South Park "Fort Collins" Review

And we're off and running, folks.

I have to admit to some reluctance to doing this review, given last episode's politic focus. Luckily, the political humor was very low in this episode, which made it a lot easier to watch. With the steady progression on each storyline conveyed in this episode, it ended up being one of the best of the season.

There's a lot to cover, but let's start from the top. Randy and Mr. Garrisson's war on the "Member Berries" feels like the main plot, with the little berries themselves definitely in on the act. It's starting to become clear that they may well be the primary antagonist this season, and their road trip and subsequent killing of one of their own was highly entertaining. What a started as a gag has quickly evolved into a seemingly massive story, and they've been a great new addition to the show.

Gerald's role as "skankhunt42" has really helped him establish himself, but his relationship with fellow troll Dick has been slightly annoying. The two seem to lack chemistry, a real drain on screen time, that is until Dick absolutely schools Gerald. He cuts loose, leaving Gerald miserable and alone, having shunned the only person willing to help him through a difficult time.

Gerald's mood is not helped by the unveiling of the new Danish weapon, which hacks nearby town Fort Collins, resulting in the brutal murder of troll "MLKKK". Trolls are not the only ones affected by the Danish's new ability, as Cartman comes under fire as well. Knowing the intelligence and humor of Heidi, combined with the possible leaking of his internet history destroys Cartman's serenity.

There are a lot of moving parts here: you've got the Danish, still chasing the troll, the impending election, the potential leak of information, the "Member Berries" running wild and Kyle, who's definitely flying under the radar. With four episodes remaining, this is clearly building to a huge climax. Let's just hope it's a doozy.

South Park "Not Funny" Review

Good night, amateur trolls that trolled a troll and trolled themselves into a troll, brothers. With one episode to go in the season, South Park has remained consistently funny and on-point with their humor, though I worry about how their going to wrap all of this up. There are a good six to seven ongoing storylines right now, and only one episode to finish off a few of them. There was no clear focus this week, but I'll start where the episode ended, with Gerald's troll-based storyline. It's pretty satisfying to see the Troll Hunter's massive revelation; that he is, in fact, just another troll, bent on world destruction. Even Gerald couldn't find the humor in his master plan, as the Troll Hunter is truly in a league of his own. With the world on the brink of war, the trolling has truly begun, as the Troll Hunter went to work on his own employees and the other trolls, though why they had to be naked for that is beyond me. Kyle is always a sucker for saving the ...
