Yesterday, we took a look at the roster of the two new teams to the Dog League, Rare Woofs and Bark Force. Now today, let's check out the drafts of last year's third and fourth place teams, Tailwaggerz and Leaping Girl. (Reminder: the Dog League is a custom fantasy football league run on NFL.com)
Leaping Girl
1st Round, 3rd Overall- RB Ezekiel Elliott(Grade: A)
2nd Round, 10th Overall- WR DeAndre Hopkins(Grade: A-)
3rd Round, 15th Overall- WR Keenan Allen(Grade: B)
4th Round, 22nd Overall- WR Adam Thielen(Grade: C)
5th Round, 27th Overall- RB Jerick McKinnon(Grade: C+)
6th Round, 34th Overall- TE Evan Engram(Grade: B-)
7th Round, 39th Overall- QB Deshaun Watson(Grade: B)
8th Round, 46th Overall- DEF Minnesota Vikings(Grade: B)
9th Round, 51st Overall- K Justin Tucker(Grade: B-)
10th Round, 58th Overall- RB Alex Collins(Grade: B+)
11th Round, 63rd Overall- WR Josh Gordon(Grade: C)
12th Round, 70th Overall- RB Derrius Guice(Grade: B-)
13th Round, 75th Overall- WR Marvin Jones(Grade: C+)
14th Round, 82nd Overall- RB Marlon Mack(Grade: B)
15th Round, 87th Overall- TE Jordan Reed(Grade: B-)
Summary:
Back to back last place finishes has established Leaping Girl as the worst team in the Dog League, and this roster may not be improving her reputation any time soon. Drafting three receivers in a row may not be the smartest decision in the world, especially given that DeAndre Hopkins is the only one of the trio who is proven to be consistent. Pairing him up with quarterback Deshaun Watson is an intriguing decision, given the two did quite well for her for a few weeks last year. Her starting line-up in general lacks star power, with only Hopkins and Ezekiel Elliott being close to be considered star players. On the plus side, her bench is among the strongest in the league, particularly at running back, with Collins, Guice and Mack possibly on the verge of breakout seasons.
Tailwaggerz
1st Round, 4th Overall- RB David Johnson(Grade: B)
2nd Round, 9th Overall- RB Kareem Hunt(Grade: A-)
3rd Round, 16th Overall- RB Dalvin Cook(Grade: B+)
4th Round, 21st Overall- WR Davante Adams(Grade: B-)
5th Round, 28th Overall- WR T.Y. Hilton(Grade: C)
6th Round, 33rd Overall- TE Greg Olsen(Grade: B+)
7th Round, 40th Overall- QB Cam Newton(Grade: B)
8th Round, 45th Overall- DEF Philadelphia Eagles(Grade: B+)
9th Round, 52nd Overall- K Matt Bryant(Grade: B-)
10th Round, 57th Overall- WR Demaryius Thomas(Grade: C)
11th Round, 64th Overall- WR Amari Cooper(Grade: D+)
12th Round, 69th Overall- RB Mark Ingram(Grade: B-)
13th Round, 76th Overall- WR Pierre Garcon(Grade: C+)
14th Round, 81st Overall- RB Dion Lewis(Grade: C)
15th Round, 88th Overall- QB Carson Wentz(Grade: B)
Summary:
I have never seen a running back corps this stacked in fantasy football before. David Johnson, Kareem Hunt and Dalvin Cook form a dream team for Tailwaggerz this year, although two of them are coming off of big injuries. The wide receivers are a mess, with no real established star capable of carrying a team. On the good side, all five players are mostly on the same level is terms of ability, so at least they have some depth. They've also gone for the same strategy as Leaping Girl, pairing up Cam Newton with his favorite target in tight end Greg Olsen. One focus before the season begins could be getting another backup running back, as Mark Ingram is suspended while Dion Lewis is in a split backfield in Tennessee.
