The Dog League: Week 8 Preview(2019 Season)

We have another trade to begin this week, and it's a very interesting one. Bark Force trades wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to Rare Woofs for tight end Hunter Henry. I'll explain the reasoning behind this move as we get into the preview for Week 8. (Reminder: the Dog League is a custom fantasy football league run on NFL.com)

Bark Force

Current Record: (2-5, 6th place)

With Greg Olsen proving to be mostly unreliable, Bark Force picks up Hunter Henry, who has returned from injury to become one of the top tight ends in fantasy. They do have to give up Smith-Schuster, but can cover his loss thanks to the likes of Stefon Diggs, Brandin Cooks and Terry McLaurin. Speaking of Diggs, he gets the start this week in the flex, while Nick Chubb returns to start over Todd Gurley. This is a big decision by Bark Force, as Chubb has a much worse matchup, traveling to New England while Gurley is at home against the Bengals, one of the worst run defenses in the NFL. But Chubb's been the far better player this year, and Gurley does have a tendency to get part of his workload vultured by other backs. They will play their Rams defense against those Bengals, and drop Delanie Walker to pick up Mason Crosby, who starts at kicker with Justin Tucker on bye. Finally, with Patrick Mahomes likely out this week and Carson Wentz in a very poor matchup in Buffalo, they drop Wentz to pick up Matthew Stafford, who's been very consistent and is through his bye week, making him a very good long term option should Mahomes miss significant time.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Ridiculous Rascals)

QB Matthew Stafford
RB Aaron Jones
RB Nick Chubb
WR DeAndre Hopkins
WR Tyler Lockett
TE Hunter Henry
WR Stefon Diggs
K Mason Crosby
DEF Los Angeles Rams

Tug of War

Current Record: (2-5, 5th place)

Dak Prescott is on bye and Drew Brees may not be playing, so Tug of War drops Darren Fells to add Jared Goff, who gets the spot start at home against the Bengals. Chris Godwin returns from his bye to send Derrick Henry to the bench, and Tug of War drops the Chargers defense to add Matt Prater, in anticipation of Greg Zuerlein's bye next week.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Rare Woofs)

QB Jared Goff
RB Leonard Fournette
RB Saquon Barkley
WR Michael Thomas
WR Chris Godwin
TE Zach Ertz
WR Cooper Kupp
K Greg Zuerlein
DEF Chicago Bears

Ridiculous Rascals

Current Record: (3-4, 4th place)

Coming off a tough loss to Tailwaggerz and with his receiver corps wrecked by injuries, Rascal had quite a few moves to make this week. He dropped Will Fuller to add John Brown, and Marquise Brown to add Golden Tate. He considered both guys to determine who would start, and ended up going with John Brown, who has a very good matchup against the Eagles. Rascal gets Aaron Rodgers, Darren Waller and James Conner all back into the starting lineup, and drops the Cowboys defense to add the Steelers, who have a cushy matchup at home against the Dolphins on Monday night. Finally, he starts Sony Michel in the flex.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Bark Force)

QB Aaron Rodgers
RB James Conner
RB Marlon Mack
WR Julio Jones
WR John Brown
TE Darren Waller
RB Sony Michel
K Robbie Gould
DEF Pittsburgh Steelers

Leaping Girl

Current Record: (4-3, 3rd place)

It's a battle for second this week, as Emma faces Tailwaggerz, with both teams looking to stay in the chase with Rare Woofs. She gets back Mike Evans from bye, who bumps D.J. Chark down to the flex spot, and decides to bring Austin Ekeler back into the starting lineup, as he faces a beatable Bears run defense with the possibility that Melvin Gordon's recent struggles could get him more work. Finally, she drops Michael Gallup to add Emmanuel Sanders, who will be the top receiver for the 49ers following his recent trade.

UPDATE: Keenan Allen will play today but will be limited, so Emma turns to Robert Woods for a spot start this week.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Tailwaggerz)

QB Russell Wilson
RB Le'Veon Bell
RB Austin Ekeler
WR Mike Evans
WR D.J. Chark
TE George Kittle
WR Robert Woods
K Zane Gonzalaez
DEF New England Patriots

Tailwaggerz

Current Record: (4-3, 2nd place)

Tailwaggerz will hope to bring back Alvin Kamara this week, listing him in the flex spot in case he misses another game. With David Johnson also dealing with injury issues, they get a new backup running back, dropping Jordan Howard to add LeSean McCoy. It's also noteworthy that Odell Beckham is not starting this week in New England, though they could bring him in if Kamara is ruled out. Finally, they bring the Saints defense, dropping Jason Witten, as their Ravens defense are on bye.

UPDATE: With Alvin Kamara out, Tyler Boyd will start in the flex spot for Tailwaggerz.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Leaping Girl)

QB Deshaun Watson
RB Chris Carson
RB Josh Jacobs
WR T.Y. Hilton
WR Tyreek Hill
TE Evan Engram
WR Tyler Boyd
K Harrison Butker
DEF New Orleans Saints

Rare Woofs

Current Record: (6-1, 1st place)

With Kerryon Johnson out for an extended period of time and the Devin Singletary experiment having failed, Rare Woofs brings in two new backup running backs in Tevin Coleman and Carlos Hyde. They get back Christian McCaffrey, but lose Amari Cooper to his bye week, so new acquisition JuJu Smith-Schuster gets the start. They will not bring in a backup tight end, instead relying on Travis Kelce to carry the load, which could be a risky decision as he deals with new quarterback Matt Moore at the helm. Finally, Rare Woofs have the Davante Adams situation to deal with, as Adams is left behind on the bench in favor of Kenny Golladay. As the week progresses, they could take a look at starting Adams, though there would be a huge amount of risk involved as Adams would play on Sunday night. Most likely, if they decide to start Adams over Golladay, they would drop Alshon Jeffery to add Marquez Valdes-Scantling as an emergency option.

Week 8 Starting Lineup(vs Tug of War)

QB Tom Brady
RB Dalvin Cook
RB Christian McCaffrey
WR Julian Edelman
WR Kenny Golladay
TE Travis Kelce
WR JuJu Smith-Schuster
K Wil Lutz
DEF San Francisco 49ers

South Park "Not Funny" Review

Good night, amateur trolls that trolled a troll and trolled themselves into a troll, brothers. With one episode to go in the season, South Park has remained consistently funny and on-point with their humor, though I worry about how their going to wrap all of this up. There are a good six to seven ongoing storylines right now, and only one episode to finish off a few of them. There was no clear focus this week, but I'll start where the episode ended, with Gerald's troll-based storyline. It's pretty satisfying to see the Troll Hunter's massive revelation; that he is, in fact, just another troll, bent on world destruction. Even Gerald couldn't find the humor in his master plan, as the Troll Hunter is truly in a league of his own. With the world on the brink of war, the trolling has truly begun, as the Troll Hunter went to work on his own employees and the other trolls, though why they had to be naked for that is beyond me. Kyle is always a sucker for saving the ...
