Enzo and Big Cass vs The Usos
Jimmy and Jey Uso made their Universe Mode return, this time on the blue brand. Enzo and Cass may be the current number one contenders, but they still lack the experience and chemistry of true tag team champions, and it showed. The power of Big Cass was the huge roadblock for The Usos, but they used their speed to their advantage, and Jimmy connected with a Samoan Splash to defeat the top contenders and throw the tag division into turmoil.
Winners: The Usos
Six-Man Battle Royal- #1 Contender's Match for the Intercontinental Championship
The participants in this match were: The Miz, Sami Zayn, Tye Dillinger, Tyler Breeze, Fandango and John Cena.
Straight off the bat, the Social Outcasts made their way to the ring. Dillinger was distracted, and in that moment, Breeze dumped him out of the ring to massive boos. Fandango got a great reaction when he renewed his rivalry with his former tag team partner, but Prince Pretty eventually got his second elimination. John Cena put a stop to that, finally eliminating Breeze. The Miz, somehow a fan favorite, got a massive cheer when he shocked everyone by dumping Cena to the floor. That left The Miz and Sami Zayn, and although the Awesome One came close, it was Zayn who punched his ticket to Backlash.
Winner: Sami Zayn
The Female Destroyer
Nia Jax lived up to her nickname when she viciously attacked Alexa Bliss, who was preparing for her women's championship match. Nia was banned from interfering in that match, but Daniel Bryan said nothing about attacking Alexa backstage. Jax was pulled away by officials, but the damage had been done.
Charlotte(c) vs Alexa Bliss- SmackDown Women's Championship Match
Despite being in all kinds of pain, Alexa insisted on going through with her championship match. She was quickly made to regret that decision, as Charlotte jumped her during her entrance. It was a despicable display for the champion, who beat the hell out of the injured challenger with no remorse. A Spear and a Natural Selection put Bliss out cold, as the beatdown was finally over.
Winner and still SmackDown Women's Champion: Charlotte
Roman Reigns vs Cesaro vs Brock Lesnar- #1 Contender's Match for the WWE Championship
You think you've seen everything Brock Lesnar can dish out, all the punishment that he can deliver, but then he goes above and beyond. This was an utterly dominant performance from the Beast Incarnate, who easily handled both Cesaro and Roman Reigns. Unfortunately for them, the Swiss Superman and the Big Dog never once considered teaming up, and so felt the wrath of Brock Lesnar. Each man ate a F-5, but surprisingly, both survived thanks to timely circumstances. In the end, Lesnar played it smart, letting Reigns take out Cesaro before dropping him with another F-5 to pick up the win. Well wishes to AJ Styles at Backlash- he's going to need it.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
