Henry's Universe Mode #67: Smackdown

Smackdown GM Teddy Long released the news earlier this week that Smackdown will be hosting it's next pay-per-view on October 9th, entitled No Mercy. In a massive main event match, the two former world champions that lost their belts at Summerslam, Randy Orton and Stone Cold Steve Austin, will face off for the right to challenge Cesaro for the WWE Title at No Mercy.

New Age Outlaws vs The Ascension

This episode of Smackdown opened with a clash between relatively new tag teams on the blue brand, with the Ascension making their debut. It was a very even, back and forth affair, but the turning point of the match came when Konnor was tagged in. Road Dogg and Billy Gunn simply couldn't match his power, and one Fall of Man on Gunn was enough for the victory.

Winners: The Ascension

The Miz vs Apollo Crews

The Awesome One was accompanied to the ring by his wife, Maryse, for this interesting match against new acquisition Apollo Crews. Miz threw everything he had at Apollo, hitting him with a Skull Crushing Finale for only a two count. He then worked down Apollo's legs and locked in the Figure 4, but Apollo fought out of that too. In a last ditch effort, Miz attempted to cheat using a steel chair, but Apollo countered, hitting Miz with a series of powerbombs, finishing it off with a spinning powerbomb for the win.

Winner: Apollo Crews

Natalya(c) vs Paige- Women's World Title Match

When Paige was traded to Smackdown, she demanded an immediate title shot, which was surprisingly granted. Natalya was on an absolute tear coming into this match, but Paige quickly showed why she was the longest reigning champion in Universe Mode history. The Anti-Diva dissected the champ, combining power with technique, and trading hold for hold when necessary. Natalya tried her best, but when Paige connected with the RamPaige, it was all over. Paige claimed her second belt on her Smackdown debut in dominant fashion, ending Natalya's great story in dominant fashion.

Winner and the NEW Women's World Champion: Paige

Dolph Ziggler vs Kevin Owens

These two men met again on Smackdown, with the stakes now being raised, as Ziggler came in holding his new US Title. The match was more of a fight than a technical masterclass, which Owens started, jumping Ziggler before the bell rang. Most of the match was spent on the outside of the ring, both men unleashing their aggression with rights and lefts. Owens got the better of the brawl, and with most of the crowd behind him, smashed Ziggler's head off of everything at ringside. Ziggler out maneuvered Owens, though, manipulating the ref before hitting Owens with a low blow. Dolph then dominated the match, picking Owens apart. The Show-Off made a costly mistake though, as he got too careless when attempting a Zig Zag, and KO capitalized, dropping Ziggler with a Pop-Up Powerbomb to pick up a big win.

After the match, Teddy Long congratulated Owens on his win, and announced that at No Mercy, we will see Ziggler vs Owens one more time, for the United States Title in a No Holds Barred match.

Winner: Kevin Owens

Randy Orton vs Stone Cold Steve Austin- #1 Contender's Match for the WWE Title

Just like the previous match, these two were brawling before the bell could ring. Orton got the better of the early exchange, and soon was picking apart Austin. That spell didn't last long, however, and Austin's brawling was enough to take Orton out. Despite all the Viper could throw at him, Austin maintained the offensive advantage, and Orton was forced to resort to underhanded methods. Try as he might, Orton just couldn't put away a furious Texas Rattlesnake, and when Austin connected on not one but two Stunner, it was enough for victory. Stone Cold will be the first challenger for WWE Champion Cesaro, when they face off on October 9th at No Mercy.

Winner: Stone Cold Steve Austin

South Park "Not Funny" Review

Good night, amateur trolls that trolled a troll and trolled themselves into a troll, brothers. With one episode to go in the season, South Park has remained consistently funny and on-point with their humor, though I worry about how their going to wrap all of this up. There are a good six to seven ongoing storylines right now, and only one episode to finish off a few of them. There was no clear focus this week, but I'll start where the episode ended, with Gerald's troll-based storyline. It's pretty satisfying to see the Troll Hunter's massive revelation; that he is, in fact, just another troll, bent on world destruction. Even Gerald couldn't find the humor in his master plan, as the Troll Hunter is truly in a league of his own. With the world on the brink of war, the trolling has truly begun, as the Troll Hunter went to work on his own employees and the other trolls, though why they had to be naked for that is beyond me. Kyle is always a sucker for saving the ...
