My WWE 2k18 Plans

So, this post has been a long time coming. For a few months now, I've been working on my plans for WWE 2k18, and I'm currently at a bit of a crossroads. To explain fully, I'll need to go into some detail. Excuse if I ramble a bit, as there's a lot to talk about, but hopefully when I'm finished, you should understand my thinking a little better.

Earlier this year, I considered making the decision to cancel Henry's Universe Mode. This wasn't exactly a new thought; I've thought about cancelling the series multiple times over the past year or so. Most of my problems came during the switch from 2k16 to 2k17, when the series underwent a dramatic shift. For the most part, I thought my work during 2k17 was far better, but the shift in style and in roster created a lot of continuity errors and mucked up a lot of future plans. The biggest of these were my initial plans for WrestleMania. The two headline matches for that show were scheduled to be a Shield triple threat for the World Heavyweight Title and "Broken" Matt Hardy vs Jeff Hardy for the WWE Title. Neither of those matches ever saw the light of day, and Matt and Jeff were dropped from the series for several months. On the surface, it's not the biggest problem, and I thought I handled it well, but these little things add up.

The other major problem with Henry's Universe Mode was a lot simpler; I just got burned out. Other 2k creators can upload three or four shows a week, and all power to them, but I just couldn't handle the workload. Creatively, I was completely finished, barely coming up with enough ideas just to put on one episode of Raw or SmackDown. So in about May or June, I forget, the concept of cancelling the series came to fruition. At that point, I decided Summerslam would be the final show, and most of the card was booked a few months in advance. At that point, I started working on what would follow it. A few weeks went by, and I had an idea.

That idea was a new Universe Mode series called The Revolution. If you've followed my Twitter account(@htk0215), then you've probably already figured out what this is. The Revolution was going to be an all-NXT Universe Mode, with the one show containing most if not all the wrestlers available in the game. I would get my fresh start, and get an opportunity to do something new, with all the star power in the world available for booking. Sounds good, right? I thought I was on to something great, and my plans(which I won't reveal, just in case), were very well thought out and had tons of room to grow. When I sat down to start working on the first few shows, though, it all went wrong. I don't specifically know what went wrong, maybe I just got used to working on Henry's Universe Mode, but I just couldn't get my ideas to print. As of now, The Revolution is completely on hold.

And that's kind of where my head is at. I can try and move forward with The Revolution and hope things work out, or I could always go back to Henry's Universe Mode, which I do know quite well. There are a few other ideas I have, but I'm not really attached to anything. Over the next few days, I'll be dedicated to finding something that works, though at this point, it could be almost anything. I do apologize if you haven't found this post very informative, or aren't satisfied with the decisions I've made. Unfortunately, even the best plans can fail, and I have to admit that I'm really disappointed with the ways things have gone. I do remain optimistic that I will find a winning idea for 2k18 that should hopefully last for most of the game's lifespan. When that happens though, is beyond even me.

American Dad "Twinanigans" Review

It's been a while since the last Steve and Roger episode, and this week reminded me why that's such a classic American Dad pairing. This is a genuinely fun episode, filled with some great one liners and even a great callback to the show's past. "Twinanigans" centers around the heretofore unmentioned acting careers of Roger and Steve, who twinned it up as the Smith Brothers. I'm not going to question whether this backstory actually makes sense to the overall timeline; no one watches American Dad for continuity. Steve had to give up acting to attend kindergarten, and wants to give Roger a second chance at greatness. The two head to auditions, where Steve impresses and Roger blows it. It's here the episode kinda misfires, as it's never made abundantly clear why Roger struggles so much at acting. Is he just trying too hard, does he have some form of stage fright, does he not even know what acting is? This part of the story is just never explained, w...

Henry's Pay-Per-View Reviews: ECW Heatwave 1998

As the world collectively loses it's mind over the coronavirus(this could be a fun intro to look back on in the future), the only sanity that can be found is in the ring. Let's take a look today at what is often considered ECW's finest outing, Heatwave '98. - Jokes aside, everyone should stay safe out there. I know it's easy to panic about these mass outbreaks, and I've certainly felt very nervous about everything I've heard and read over the past week. But I think we all need some fun in our lives right now, and this show is the epitome of distraction. - The opening contest is one of the highlights of the night, as Jerry Lynn takes on Justin Credible. Credible has an entire entourage in his corner, including Chastity, Jason and Nicole Bass, and their involvement in this match at times bordered on excessive. But the match begins to hit it's peak when Lynn puts Credible through a table with a hurricanrana, and it's all fantastic from...

Curious Crab

One Monday night my mom looked into my crabitat and found that a crab had climbed into one of my fake trees. It was in the top branch. I looked in later, and found that the crab had fallen out of the tree. I hope he is okay. What a day!
