After missing out on a Hell in a Cell preview thanks to TV problems, I was all ready to sit down and break down the card in nice, neat fashion. But let's just skip the formalities and get right to it.
What the f*** is happening? The card was already completely bonkers, with "Pumpkin Demon" Finn Balor taking on "Man in Drag" Bray Wyatt, and with the reunion of the Shield to face the oddball alliance of The Bar, The Miz, Braun Strowman and Kane. But now, thanks to viral goddamn meningitis, all bets are off. Kurt Angle, having not wrestled in a WWE ring for over a decade, has apparently joined the Shield, while AJ Styles will now face Balor in a legit dream match with no build whatsoever.
So what is the end result of all of this madness? I'm not really sure. The Shield was always going to be winning and standing tall at the end of the night, and surely there's no way Angle is returning to do the job, right? I honestly have no clue where Balor-Wyatt was going, though that's mostly due to the fact that I never understood whatever they were doing in the first place. Now with Styles in his place, I'm really not sure. Who knows what creative is thinking right now, beyond "we're all f***ed, you guys". I can't think of a situation is my entire time watching and following wrestling where I was this perplexed about what I'm going to witness.
There are plenty of ways to turn this huge negative into a positive, and the TLC card has now suddenly become one of the strongest of the year. You've gotten the return of Angle, the debut of Asuka and the potential of Styles-Balor. And it's entirely possible this isn't the end, either. What has taken place so far today is the absolute epitome of that famous slogan "Card Subject to Change".
